051328 -    4.  Have not flown in a few years, so was surprised by new
051329 -        procedures at the airport.  Ticketing now is largely
051330 -        self-service, at least at UAL.  Taking your shoes off going
051331 -        through electronic surveillance was new.  The seats were barely
051332 -        big enough for me, so can't imagine how a bigger person can fly
051333 -        economy.  Ross has clued me on how to get the best price for

051337 -    5.  Thought this would be a quiet time in Connecticut, but they are
051338 -        keeping me hopping.  Landed at JFK 0700 on Sunday.  We drove
051339 -        into New York and went to Catholic Mass at St Patricks
051340 -        Cathedral.  Did pretty well until communion.  Ross gave
051341 -        instructions on clasping and holding out your hands for the
051342 -        offering, but did not mention that the bread should be
051343 -        immediately consumed, so the priest chased me down the isle and
051344 -        explained the procedure.

051347 -    6.  After that, it was Rockefeller Center, Ground Zero, and other

051351 -    7.  Monday we went to a Yankees' game in the Bronx.  Ross took a

051357 -    8.  Ross got us seats in the 2nd deck of right field.  Two home
051358 -        runs were hit in this area, so we had chances to get souvenirs,

051362 -    9.  Ross and Claudia both exercise, so have been keeping in shape.
051363 -        Sunday night we went to the golf range.  Tuesday we played 18
051364 -        holes of golf - seem to have lost my watch taking it off and
051365 -        leaving it in the cart.  Yesterday, we worked out in their gym
051366 -        downstairs.  Did usual 5.5 miles only on their treadmill rather
051367 -        than out and about.  It has been very hot and humid, so hiking
051368 -        inside was helpful.

051371 -   10.  Today was sad.  We went for a hike at Bennit's Pond.  It is a
051372 -        natural a trail that requires stepping carefully on rocky
051373 -        ground.  Ross took their dog, Griffin, a nine-year old Mastiff.
051374 -        A very big dog and 2 years older than life expectancy.  Grif
051375 -        barely gets around the neighborhood for a walk of .25 miles.
051376 -        We took him on a hike of several miles and very rough country.
051377 -        He finally layed down, and Ross had to hike out to the car, and
051378 -        drive back into the woods.  Griffin weighs about 190 lbs, so it
051379 -        was difficult even for us to pick him up and get him into the
051380 -        back of the Land Rover.  We finally got him home, and on the
051381 -        front lawn.  A delivery truck driver who happened to stop by
051382 -        helped us carry him into the house.  About an hour later,
051383 -        Griffen died.  Could have been a heart attack from over
051384 -        exertion in the heat.

051387 -   11.  So, we had to struggle again to pick him up, carry him, and
051388 -        then hoist him into the Land Rover for the ride to the vet.
051389 -        Ross was very close to his dog.  After we finally left, he was
051390 -        crying a bit.  He had to call and tell Claudia at work.  Very
051391 -        sad.  Ross liked that Griffen was doing what he liked when he
051392 -        died.

051395 -   12.  Overall this has been a good trip.  Making progress with SDS
