Dear Les,
This responds to your letter asking if we solved the performance problem for Windows 2000 reported in the SDS record begining on February 2, 2001. On February 7, Microsoft was notified and, even thought there was no duty to do so, Microsoft was paid in advance to correct the problem, since Microsoft sold the product with the representation that Windows 2000 improves productivity. On February 14, a letter to Microsoft confirmed the scope of the problem. Microsoft failed to perform. On March 13, 2001 we notified Microsoft that, at considerable time and expense, the customer developed a solution that is satisfactory. On May 10, 2001 Microsoft's CEO, Steve Balmer, confirmed a commitment to improve productivity of customers. Our record indicates this commitement needs greater attention at Microsoft.
