- Progress
-
- I drove to the City and picked up some system configuration disks and
- manuals. Took them back to Concord.
-
- These did not work. I need a boot disk.
-
- Called Morris. He offered some ideas on how to get the operating
- system to boot. We need a boot disk.
-
- Borrowed a boot disk from Ron Buck Jr. It turned out to be mainly a
- virus check.
-
- When we returned from the funeral for Stephanie, ref SDS 13 0000, we
- visited Steve and Lilly, and then stopped at the office in San
- Francisco.
-
- I tried to make a boot disk on CPU11 using following instructions...
-
- 1. Open Control Panel
- 2. Select Add/Remove programs
- 3. Click on Start Up Disk tab.
- 4. Click "Create Disk" button
-
- This procedure returned an error message...
-
- Please insert the disk labeled Windows 98 CD ROM and then click
- OK.
-
- When this instruction is performed, we get an error message...
-
- The file "command.com" on Windows 98 CD ROM disk cannot be
- found.
-
- ..
-
- I tried to use the w98 upgrade CD disk purchased a few weeks ago to
- upgrade to w98. This failed. Setup returns an error message saying
- it cannot find files on the hard disk for w95 that are needed to
- establish we can use the upgrade.
-
- I tried the w98 CD disk that came with CPU11. This returns a message
- saying it detects we already have w98 installed and so the CD program
- will not run because it is only for installing w98 on a new system.
-
- [On 990111 was able to install w98 using the CPU11 disk, but could
- not get the video driver to work. ref SDS 14 2124]
