1005 - ..
1006 - Summary/Objective
1007 -
100701 - Followed up work at ref SDS 13 line 54, ref SDS 11 line 86.
100702 -
100703 - Developed further ideas to gain buy in and approval to proceed with
100704 - Asilomar planning. I resubmitted via internet the Event agenda that
100705 - was not received by Bill in time for last's week's meeting, ref DIP 3
100706 - line 31.

1010 - Discussion
1011 -
101101 - Only First Internet Message on Event Theme Was Received
101102 -
101103 - Bill said he received the revised theme ideas I sent at ref SDS 10
101104 - line 84. He did not evidently receive the revised agenda that
101105 - incorporates the final thesis I adopted which was sent the next day
101106 - via ref DIP 3 line 32 at ref SDS 11 line 86. Bill said he was able to
101107 - develop a revised thesis based on the first submission, and submitted
101108 - it to the Asilomar planning team last Friday.
101109 -
101110 -
101111 -
101112 - Asilomar Event Planning Team Wants "Leadership"
101113 -
101114 - Bill confirmed his message on Sunday, ref SDS 13 line 74, that the
101115 - Event Team was not in favor of considering how technology can improve
101116 - communications. They want to do something on "leadership." We
101117 - considered today how the theme currently proposed:
101118 -
101119 - Taking the quantum leap into the 21st Century.
101120 -
101121 - ...is about effective leadership. That is why Bill Walsh is the
101122 - opening speaker. The New World Order Needs Old Time Religion paper
101123 - explains how Communication Metrics supports the leader's most
101124 - critical methodology: communications, ref OF 1 line 1182.
101125 -
101126 - Bill advised that Bob Denmark was unsupportive of most ideas for
101127 - themes on the grounds that they had been done before. Ahmet suggested
101128 - to Bob that the team needs ideas on what should be done, as well as
101129 - observations about difficulties on what is being proposed. At one
101130 - point the team wrote down some key words and phrases to define a theme
101131 - that included "future", "21st century," "leadership," "PMBOK." There
101132 - was no apparent recognition that these ideas are applied in the
101133 - currently proposed agenda, ref OF 3 line 20.
101134 -
101135 - Bill said the meeting lacked leadership. There were no ideas about
101136 - what should be done, and no guidance on the need for action. This is
101137 - what happened last year when Asilomar failed to be presented. Bill
101138 - said there were comments on Friday by other members of the Asilomar
101139 - planning team that this year the chapter has poor leadership.
101140 -
101141 -
101142 - Alternatives Needed
101143 -
101144 - We considered that one way to move the process is to recommend that
101145 - other committee members (e.g., Ahmet, Sherrill, Bob) develop
101146 - alternate visions, themes, thesies, agendas, speaker slates and
101147 - schedules, then the team can vote on what to approve, so work can
101148 - begin. Otherwise the event will not get done, like last year.
101149 -
101150 -
101151 -
101152 - Speaker Slate
101153 -
101154 - Bill said he did not submit the speaker letters to the event team last
101155 - week. He plans to do that this week. He indicated that the team did
101156 - not recognize that Turner Construction, Morris Jones and General Hatch
101157 - are slated to speak on this theme, even though their names are set out
101158 - in the agenda. We considered that these speakers by definition
101159 - comprise an agenda about "leadership."
101160 -
101161 - [See follow up at ref SDS 21 line 138.]
101162 -
101163 -
101164 - Biographies
101165 -
101166 - Bill requested a separate list of speakers showing their biography.
101167 -
101168 - After our discussion, I prepared an initial speaker bio per below,
101169 - ref SDS 0 9945, in ref OF 4 line 17, and submitted via internet,
101170 - along with the revised event agenda that has the thesis submitted
101171 - via ref DIP 3 line 32.
101172 -
101173 - [See follow up at ref SDS 21 line 138.]

101177 -
101178 -
101179 - Revise Agenda
101180 -
101181 - Bill said he plans to revise the agenda and thesis over the next
101182 - few days. I suggested that this is debating with ourselves.
101183 - There is no alternative agenda. When someone comes forward with
101184 - something else, then we can see what compromises might be helpful
101185 - to accomodate other views. Right now we have no other views, just
101186 - grumblings.
101187 -
101188 - Bill feels it would be helpful to make revisions showing
101189 - "leadership" and PMBOK are more apparent.
101190 -
101191 - [See follow up at ref SDS 17 line 92, and submission to
101192 - Event team at ref SDS 21 line 135.]
101193 -
101194 -
101195 - Contact Event Team Members Individually
101196 -
101197 - Another idea is to contact Sherrill McDonald to see if he supports
101198 - the agenda and speaker slate once it is explained, perhaps with
101199 - some revisions. Then call Bob Denmark and explain the urgency of
101200 - approving an agenda, otherwise we will not have time to get the
101201 - work done. Point out the work already performed on the proposed
101202 - agenda and that to do another agenda requires starting over with
101203 - the prospect of inadequate results, per the Feb event where 20
101204 - people showed up. Then call Ahmet and ask him to call the other
101205 - attendees and have them show up with alternate themes, agendas,
101206 - speakers and schedules, i.e., alternate plans. Then the team can
101207 - vote on which to implement.
101208 -
101209 - [See follow up at ref SDS 17 line 74.]
101210 -
101211 -
101212 - Contact Dan Ono
101213 -
101214 - I suggested Bill contact Dan Ono and ask him to review the agenda
101215 - submitted last week, and ask him to support it by contacting Ahmet
101216 - to endorse it.
101217 -
101218 -
101219 -
101220 - Resubmitted Current Agenda, Rev 06
101221 -
101222 - I re-submitted the revised agenda, ref DIP 3 line 30, that was not
101223 - received by Bill, ref SDS 12 line 76. I actually revised this again
101224 - slightly, per below, and sent rev 06 rather than 05.
101225 -
101226 -
101227 -
101228 - Advertising
101229 -
101230 - Bill will call Jim Pennypacker about the advertising matter, per our
101231 - earlier discussion, ref SDS 9 line 121. Bill said he tried to get
101232 - through earlier and was unable to do so.
101233 -
101234 - He later reported Ahmet has talked to Jim Pennypacker and Jim
101235 - indicated PMI NCC needs to submit the advertising soon.
101236 -
101237 -
101238 - ..
1013 -
1014 -
1015 - 1102 Developed speaker bios
1016 -
101601 - Began ref OF 4 line 30 to explain biographies for speakers.
101602 -
101603 - Called Turner and learned Allan has left the firm. We will get bios
101604 - of those who will do Turner's presenation, per ref SDS 15 line 83.
101605 -
101606 - Called Joan at Intel. She will fax the most recent biography on
101607 - David later today. I asked about the letter on his participation.
101608 - Joan said David was with customers most of last week.
101609 -
101610 - [See follow up at ref SDS 19 line 104.]
101611 -
101612 -
101613 - Called Morris for an official biography.
101614 -
101615 - [See follow up at ref SDS 20 line 187.]
101616 -
101617 -
101618 - New Event Agenda - Rev 06
101619 -
101620 - I also modified the agenda, creating rev 06, following up work at ref
101621 - SDS 10 line 124.
101622 -
101623 - This revision adds Tom Landauer's name ref OF 3 line 40, which was
101624 - missing from rev 05, ref OF 2 line 40. I am sending the agenda to
101625 - Tom, and so wanted his name to be included.
101626 -
101627 - [See revision later that adds "leadership" and PMBOK, per above,
101628 - ref SDS 18 line 65.]
101629 -
101630 -
101631 -

1018 -
1019 - 1252 called Tom Landauer
