050962 -    1.  Just a quick follow up on the memorial today.  This was a

050977 -    2.  Sending a copy to Sally, so she and mom Lil, can know that
050978 -        Jerry attended, and presented himself well.  There is a deep
050979 -        sense in Jerry of having been left out of things.  This was a
050980 -        good occasion for him to feel involved with everyone.  Millie,
050981 -        Patty, Robin, Jennifer, Bob, everyone welcomed Jerry's
050982 -        participation.  Jennifer had him talk to her Dad, Pete, whom
050983 -        she called in New York after formal services concluded.  Jerry
050984 -        has good people skills, which is probably due to being around
050985 -        Rob.  Jerry mentioned today that he is grateful for Rob's

050989 -    3.  The Reverend Jim Boyd grounded his service in Ecclesiastes.
050990 -        I'm sure Robin and Patty will remember chapter and verse.  Jim
050991 -        spoke movingly of seasonal changes that make life and death
050992 -        complementary forces in an expanding mosaic.  The reverend
050993 -        guided those who wished to bear witness sharing their stories
050994 -        of mother.  He called for release to continue our own journey,
050995 -        noting that, like mother, our stories are important to the

051001 -    4.  It was great that so many could join with Bob bidding a last
051002 -        farewell to mother.  Most of the people I didn't know, but
051003 -        enjoyed meeting and hearing their stories, since mother was
051004 -        largely  cut off from us kids for a long time.  The "star" of
051005 -        the day was Bob's neighbor, Tony.  He presented a scruffy
051006 -        appearance, but related a fabulous story of meeting mother and
051007 -        Bob, after giving up a career at IBM in LA to live in Nipomo
051008 -        caring for his failing parents next door, who both passed away
051009 -        about a year ago.  Tony cooked and served steaks for everyone,

051013 -    5.  Jennifer brought us up to date on her little Alex, now 3.
051014 -        Sounds like he might be an engineer, like his grandfather, or a
051015 -        leader with mom's strong personality.  Patty and Pablito look
051016 -        great, even with only a few hours sleep today, because they had
051017 -        to pick Jennifer up at the airport.  Her delayed flight from
051018 -        the East, due to bad weather, meant driving 200 miles to arrive
051019 -        at Bob's place in Nipomo at 2pm.  Sounds like Patty and Pablito
051020 -        are growing their business, which Patty started a year or so
051021 -        ago providing business management support for churches.

051025 -    6.  Mother's niece, Robin, attended and with her friend JR.  Mother
051026 -        would have been especially pleased that Robin's brother, Rick,
051027 -        also drove up from Los Angeles.  Rick and Robin are Beverley's
051028 -        children.  Millie and I met Rick and learned about his life and
051029 -        family during the visit when mother was hospitalized on January
051030 -        6th. ref SDS 5 RR4H  Robin has been in mother and Bob's life
051031 -        since childhood.  In the past 10 years or so, Robin has been a
051032 -        major support for mother and Bob, and has long been a close
051033 -        friend to mother as an adult.
