| Subject: | FTP Success, Need Follow Up on Pending Issues |
Dear Bruce,
This morning created some HTML files that update files transferred from JPS to Earthlink yesterday. As a result, these files are newer than those for welchco on Earthlink, and so should have transferred under analysis you developed yesterday afternoon. However, the FTP op failed to transfer these newer files, as reported in the record today.
Tried a second run by modifying the configuration of wsftp pro, and this was successful. With this base of knowing we can transfer files, when necessary, to the server, and using our directory structure, this relieves some of the concern about proceeding with Earthlink. Possibly the only problem was the setting in wsftp pro for.....
Maybe the prompt option works differently on Earthlink from the way JPS servers react. In any case, it appears "problem handling" has been good enough for now to proceed.
Additionally, if the following FTP setting can be used.....
....this would add considerable value to Earthlink's support for Communication Metrics. Using this option will depend on your success arranging for files to be stamped with west coast time. Maybe there is an FTP program that tells the server to use the date and time of the uploaded file, rather than set its own time. Wsfpt pro seems to capture the date and time of files downloaded from the server, but does not have an evident option for telling the server to retain the date and time of uploaded files. This would be a direct solution to our problem.
We need a reading on the total amount of welchco data transferred from JPS? It should be about 100 MB. That will establish everything has been transferred.
Is there a web location that explains new features using Earthlink, and how to query to see how much space we are using, as we discussed on May 1?
On May 1, 2001 you requested a report on the welchco transfer project. The the record for today lists the history so far. Notice there is a pending task to notify Sarah Etchieson to terminate JPS, after we are satisfied things are running correctly on Earthlink. Should that be done now?
Thanks very much for your help.
