0610 - Discussion
0611 -
061101 - He needs updated SDS for his home computer that uses C: drive. This
061102 - is regular end user version. He said the F6 function that creates
061103 - additional lines in the SI is working, but after he saves the thing
061104 - and then brings it back, the original SI is still there.
061105 -
061106 - Created it this evening and submitted under the record at ref SDS
061107 - 14 line 53.
061108 -

061110 -
061111 - Interim Backup - Maintenance
061112 -
061113 - He has moved my SDS stuff to another drive, his backup program will
061114 - handle his SDS records.
061115 -
061116 - This prevents him from using my SDS records on line, however, he is
061117 - able to accomplish the essential task of backing up his own stuff.
061118 -
061119 - I doubt, however, that he is able to accomplish the daily maintenance
061120 - because that requires someone to create a set of routines to carry out
061121 - the tasks. It also requires that the software for sorting,
061122 - defragmenting and moving the files on the drive, be compatible with
061123 - the tape backup stuff. None of the modern stuff seems to fit that
061124 - requirement. So basically I expect Wayne is limping along now.
061125 -
061126 - We left it that he needs a 4 MM DAT tape system and Gazelle software,
061127 - and he probably will not be able to get it.

1204 - Summary/Objective
1205 -
120501 - Followed up our discussion at ref SDS 8 line 213.
120502 -
120503 - I mentioned that W95 does not solve memory problem, per ref SDS 11
120504 - line 165. It does run smoother that W3.11. It has more the look and
120505 - feel of os2, but without the memory advantages for DOS sessions.
120506 -
120507 - Only os2 can do this. We did not discuss my coming up to help him per
120508 - ref SDS 8 line 238.
120509 -
120510 - Wayne said his new work setting will use a Novel network, rather than
120511 - the DEC system. I expect this will eliminate a lot of compatibility
120512 - problems that had messed things up earlier. Possibly if he uses W95
120513 - it will load the Novel network stuff high. My experience, however,
120514 - with W95 was that it works the same as W 3.11, there is no memory
120515 - management advantage.
120516 -
120517 - In any case os2 will load the Novel stuff high and so he would have
120518 - the full 750K of RAM for SDS.

1506 - Summary/Objective
1507 -
150701 - I mentioned planning underway for PMI event at Asilomar and the ideas
150702 - developed this morning at ref SDS 12 line 69.
150703 -
150704 - Explained preliminary agenda ideas per ref SDS 13 line 87.
150705 -
150706 - Wayne asked where and when the event will occur. I advised it is
150707 - scheduled for next Jul in Montery, CA. He feels the need for cultural
150708 - change is evident in their organization, and that experienced people
150709 - are needed for the Communication Engineer role. For one thing they
150710 - need to be politically sensitive.
150711 -
150712 -
150713 - I also mentioned the study under consideration by SCU, ref SDS 10 line

2208 - Summary/Objective
2209 -
220901 - Wayne said he is using the SDS linking tools alot now and finds it
220902 - very useful to get information he needs quickly.
220903 -
220904 - [See report on 970711 where Wayne is agency expert on critical

220907 -
220908 - He is not using the new Action Item feature.
220909 -
220910 - I explained how to apply it, and he indicated he will try it to help
220911 - with increased project work he has been doing (see record on 941020

2506 - Summary/Objective
2507 -
250701 - Wayne said they have an aribitration scheduled against Voith for next
250702 - week, that has now been delayed because Voith said they could not send
250703 - their people to Seattle in time.
250704 -
250705 - He said they replaced the gears in the Speed Increase, rather than
250706 - replace it with a double helical. It is still too noisy. Experts
250707 - testified the extra noise is not a material defect.
250708 -
250709 - Seems like a major difficulty at this time is that Voith has not
250710 - furnished the required shop drawings. DNRC is assessing LD until
250711 - Voith complies. Voith is objecting.
250712 - ..
250713 - DNRC is pursuing an action against Tudor for any amounts it has
250714 - been damaged by Voith for which the arbitrators have ruled Tudor's
250715 - decisions have barred recovery by DNRC.
250716 -
250717 - [See where DNRC accepted $250K settlement against Tudor for its $1M
