SUBJECTS
Turner, Darrell Partey, Steve Rule

0403 - ..
0404 - Summary/Objective
0405 -
040501 - Followed up work at ref SDS 18 line 66, ref SDS 16 line 80,
040502 - line 82, ref SDS 11 line 81, ref SDS 8 line 79, ref SDS 6ref DIP 9 line 30, and proposal on SFO project at ref DIP 1 line 30,
040504 - to try Communication Metrics.
040505 -
040506 - Steve called Sherrill and got an indication about future coordination
040507 - with Sherrill or Bill. He asked me to call him on Monday about
040508 - clarifying the time they will have, and to schedule a meeting with
040509 - Bill and/or Sherrill, and a possible meeting with David Buoncristiani.
040510 - He found the sample papers, and we considered my helping them craft
040511 - one for Asilomar.

0407 -
0408 - Progress
0409 -
040901 - Steve said he called Sherrill the other day because the transmittal
040902 - letter to Turner said Sherrill or Bill DeHart would be contacting
040903 - Turner to work out a joint presentation with Dave Buoncristiani at
040904 - TMJ&B.
040905 -
040906 - It was unclear what developed from the discussion with Sherrill.
040907 -
040908 - Steve said a major concern for him is that his name was "in lights" in
040909 - the Asilomar brochure, rather any of the other members of Turner's
040910 - team. He said that was not his intent. I apologized for the mixup
040911 - that occured; Turner's efforts to present itself as a team was
040912 - submitted to the PMI Committee, but evidently not explicitly enough to
040913 - be successful.
040914 -
040915 - Steve said he did not realize that the Asilomar Schedule shows Turner
040916 - and Dave Buoncristiani have together only an hour, which means with
040917 - introductions and so forth, they have only about 20 minutes. I
040918 - explained my understanding from Bill as to why Sherrill scheduled
040919 - these presentations in the manner that has been done, ref SDS 17 line
040920 - 53. We considered the objective for David to advance the idea of
040921 - "Concurrent Discovery" to supplement Turner's existing practices, and
040922 - using Intel to supply the power and integration to make this
040923 - practical. Since this is an educating process, the Asilomar Schedule
040924 - shows there is more work to do on the educating task.
040925 -
040926 - [See follow up at ref SDS 19 line 94.]
040927 -
040928 - Steve asked how much time they should plan to speak?
040929 -
040930 - [See follow up at ref SDS 19 line 78.]
040931 -
040932 - I advised of Bill's meeting today with Sherrill and the Committee on
040933 - this point. Steve asked me to let him know Monday morning, so he has
040934 - some input to the Committee.
040935 -
040936 - I suggested a joint meeting with Dave Buoncristiani. Steve feels this
040937 - might be doable the last few days of next week or the first of the
040938 - following week.
040939 -
040940 - He has read through the draft letter to Sherrill ref DIP 12 line 37,
040941 - issued at ref SDS 18 line 130, and initially feels it is not necessary
040942 - to respond to Sherrill in that manner. We discussed the advantage of
040943 - educating Turner, Sherrill and the PMI Committee on the ideas for
040944 - applying Turner's experience and expertise as a Communication Manager.
040945 - By Turner considering an editing the letter to Sherrill, they will
040946 - have an opportunity to review prior understandings and see the
040947 - framework that ties the meetings we have had together with the
040948 - Asilomar theme. Sending it to Sherrill will help him grasp the
040949 - implications and potential Asilomar offers. Steve said he will re-read
040950 - the draft letter to see if they can do something with it.
040951 -
040952 - Steve asked about the paper they are supposed to write, per his voice
040953 - mail yesterday, ref SDS 18 line 108. I explained how to find the
040954 - sample papers in the materials I submitted. While we talked he found
040955 - them. Steve said they plan to prepare an outline for their
040956 - presentaiton, but feels that is no adequate for the paper. I noted
040957 - that the paper gives them an opportunity to make their entire case for
040958 - a better approach to communications for Turner, without having to
040959 - present all of the material at Asilomar. I voiced my willingness to
040960 - help them with this paper, if they are short of time.
