0606 - Summary/Objective
0607 -
060701 - Followed up work at ref SDS 6 line 77.
060702 -
060703 - Developed ideas for the panel discussion on Sunday.
060704 -

0610 - Discussion
0611 -
061101 - Advised Ross of current status of planning for Asilomar.
061102 -
061103 - He is getting a new IBM Thinkpad in a week or so that will have Lotus
061104 - Organizer and Lotus Notes. His group has assigned support for Lotus
061105 - Notes, so he is thinking of trying to use it for his personal
061106 - management practice. Additionally, it may be part of the new IBM
061107 - PROFS system.
061108 -
061109 - Ross will be out of town most if the next 3 weeks or so. They are
061110 - going to El Salvador for a wedding in Claudia's family.
061111 -
061112 - He will be in New York in 2 weeks presenting a business plan for a new
061113 - initiative for IBM Credit, which he has been developing the past four
061114 - (4) months. It has evidently passed several intermediate reviews. It
061115 - sounds like that if his idea is approved this would offer Ross the
061116 - chance to have strategic responsibility for a profit center.
061117 -
061118 -
061119 - Ross Demo Technology Used by Executives Today
061120 -
061121 - Followed up work at ref SDS 7 line 391. I asked Ross about
061122 - participating on a panel at Asilomar to demonstrate how he uses
061123 - automation to support his work practice, ref OF 1 line 58. We want to
061124 - find out what tools executives are using today to improve earnings,
061125 - ref SDS 1 line 197.
061126 -
061127 - Ross said he might be available for this and would be interested
061128 - in it. He feels he may be up and running with Lotus Notes by then
061129 - and could demonstrate how IBM is doing with it. Possibly he
061130 - could bring an IBM expert to flesh this out.
061131 -
061132 - [See follow up at ref SDS 9 line 190.]
061133 -
061134 - He asked me to call him about mid-April to schedule a visit I can
061135 - see what he would demonstrate. I scheduled this.
061136 -
061137 - If Ross did this it would likely be better than having Steve Mills
061138 - come over and repeat the performance at SJCC, ref SDS 1 line 197.
061139 -
061140 -
061141 - My idea taking shape for the Sunday panel ref OF 1 line 58, is to have
061142 - people like Morris and Ross, show how executives are using technology.
061143 - SDS will be presented the day before as part of Intel's presentation
061144 - on what the future holds, ref SDS 8 line 318. It will be offered as a
061145 - prototype that requires Communication Metrics support, and commitment
061146 - to improve earnings through better communications.
061147 -
061148 - This gives attendees the option of trying automation for mainstream
061149 - solutions, or try to become part of the future by reaching out to SDS
061150 - and Communication Metrics. Sterling Jensen would offer another route
061151 - of a Communications Manager without using automation.
061152 -
061153 - We may not have the technology presented as a panel, but rather simply
061154 - let several people show what they do. Actually, it might be a good
061155 - idea to show a panel, and let each application show how they a series
061156 - of things, so attendees would see the range of stuff people are doing
061157 - and how each application has strengths and weaknesses.
061158 -
061159 - There could be three or four 20 minute demonstrations. That would
061160 - take an hour.
061161 -
061162 - Then have an hour long panel to sum up what was presented and answer
061163 - questions, although this may not be needed, if there is a panel the
061164 - prior day. This requires thought.
061165 -
061166 - Then give General Hatch 45 mintues to close the event.
