0504 - ..
0505 - Summary/Objective
0506 -
050601 - Followed up work at ref SDS 12 line 40, ref SDS 11 line 39,
050602 - line 38, ref SDS 9 line 37, ref SDS 8 line 36, ref SDS 7
050603 - ref SDS 6 line 41 and ref SDS 5 line 40, and at ref SDS 1Progress 415 854 6795
0510 -
051001 - Jane said Bill read the New World Order ... paper on a flight over the
051002 - weekend. He feels he understands what we want to accomplish with his
051003 - presentation vis a vis "communications", since in part it is explained
051004 - in the record of his talk to DEC, ref SDS 1 line 436, submitted with
051005 - the NWO paper, ref DIP 1 line 31.
051006 -
051007 - He would like to do the event on this topic.
051008 -
051009 - Jane said they need a letter of intent i.e., contract, to hire him for
051010 - one hour for $15,000. They need a 50% deposit in advance of the event
051011 - with the balance to be paid within 5 days after the event. PMI would
051012 - pay for his travel expense. He might drive down to play golf or
051013 - attend to other personal business in the afternoon, so PMI would be
051014 - liable for his mileage, say approximately $200. Jane said Bill could
051015 - elect to stay overnight on the road, and in that case PMI can put him
051016 - up at Asilomar, or pay for first class accomodations in Monterey.
051017 -
051018 - Accordingly, it seems reasonable to estimate total expenses should not
051019 - exceed $1,000, most likely they will not exeed $500.
051020 -
051021 - I advised it will likely take a month to get approval from the PMI
051022 - Board for this transaction. We would like to defer payment of the 50%
051023 - deposit until April or May. Jane agreed to this.
051024 -
051025 - [See follow up at ref SDS 15 line 90, and again at ref SDS 16 line
051026 - 174.]
051027 -
051028 -
051029 - After the deposit is paid, Bill and I will discuss some of the details
051030 - of his remarks vis a vis the New World Order paper, and the context of
051031 - the other speakers to ensure understandings are aligned with Event
051032 - objectives. Jane wants to defer this discussion until after the
051033 - deposit is made in order to avoid wasting Bill's time if he is not
051034 - hired.
051035 -
051036 - Paper for Walsh's Remarks
051037 -
051038 - I may have to craft some language for the insert to cover Bill's
051039 - remarks in the binder for attendees, since he may not have time
051040 - nor the inclination to do this.
051041 -
051042 - This will require visiting with him about the content, reviewing
051043 - his book, crafting the language and submission to him for review,
051044 - editing and approval.
051045 -
051046 - [See follow up at ref SDS 13 line 68.]
051047 -
051048 - This will occur after we issue the initial $7,500 retainer in
051049 - April or May. We need to give notice of this step, however, when
051050 - the contract is tendered in Feb or Mar.
051051 -
051052 -
051053 - Issues for Walsh Prsentation
051054 -
051055 - Walsh can also address the impact on performance (understanding)
051056 - in an event that takes place quickly, like a football play. He
051057 - can show the benefits of having methodologies designed to deal
051058 - with fast paced situations. His West Coast offense is such an
051059 - innovation. He can also address the need for more managment help
051060 - when events move quickly.
051061 -
051062 - A football game is designed to test physical and mental limits by
051063 - limiting the number of players and pitting them against one
051064 - another. However, the number of coaches depends on the team. As
051065 - things get faster and more hectic, they hire more coaches so any
051066 - particular coach can give adequate consideration to particular
051067 - facets of the various dynamic problems.
051068 -
051069 - [See other ideas at ref SDS 14 line 137.]
051070 -
051071 -
051072 -
051073 - Follow Up
051074 -
051075 - Need to do the math and develop analysis showing whether this approach
051076 - is viable for the PMI event, per Bill DeHart's comment about
051077 - attendance in past years, and whether Asilomar can even accomodate
051078 - enough people to afford Bill Walsh's rate.
051079 -
051080 - ..
051081 -
051082 - Another concept might be to see if Intel, Chips and/or others might
051083 - underwrite some of the speaker fees. If Intel donates a computer,
051084 - they may feel they have done their part to encourage attendance. The
051085 - problem is the capacity of Asilomar. If we can get 200 - 300
051086 - attendees, then the finances should be okay, but where will they stay
051087 - and where will they sit?
