0905 - ..
0906 - Summary/Objective
0907 -
090701 - Followed up work at ref SDS 18 line 63.
090702 -
090703 - Prepared alternate schedule to show the result if GO 131-D exemption
090704 - is granted. Used schedule file ref OF 3, that does not qualify for
090705 - GO 131-D exemption, which was created Saturday at ref SDS 17 line 61,
090706 - to create new schedule file ref OF 2.

0910 - Progress
0911 -
091101 - This is to create a schedule that evaluates getting an exemption from
091102 - GO 131-D procedures.
091103 -
091104 - Changed notes for task HFB, to explain schedule file 941126a will be
091105 - granted an exemption from GO 131-D environmental assessment. Change
091106 - Notes for Task B, Project Evaluation, to say same thing.
091107 -
091108 -
091109 - Changed the logic of the schedule, so that task HFB, File for
091110 - Exemption,..., is connected to task HFPB CPUC Briefing.
091111 -
091112 - The connection in file 941126b from task HFJ CPUC Public Hearings, is
091113 - not connected to tasks in HFP for Public Information Process.
091114 -
091115 - The connection from task HFN PG&E Litigate Appeals, and task HFPH
091116 - Formal Notices, are no longer connected to task NBB Construction
091117 - Towers & Poles.
091118 -
091119 - The connection from task HFPF Public Meetings, is no longer connected
091120 - to JP Apply GO 131-D Results.

0914 - Analysis
0915 -
091501 - The main difference is that the 9 month review period is eliminated.
091502 -
091503 - There is actually only an 8 month completion improvement, because
091504 - PG&E plans to obtain advance payment from Sierra so Engineering can
091505 - commence. This will make it possible to complete the Relocation
091506 - construction work prior to 960701, in order to qualify for GO 131-D
091507 - exemption under a prospective order issued by the ALJ that projects
091508 - begun by 1995 and completed prior to 960701, will be exempt from GO
091509 - 131-D, ref SDS 9 line 206.
091510 -
091511 - Schedule file 941126a accomplishes this objective. It shows
091512 - completion of Relocation work by 960524, approximately 4 weeks prior
091513 - to the end of the 6 month extension period.
091514 -
091515 - Note the prudent cushion afforded by Sierra authorizing
091516 - pre-contract payments to PG&E is seen from Activity HB where
091517 - FERC approves the Sierra contract, is 5 months later than the
091518 - date the schedule shows Engineering will start. If Engineering
091519 - is delayed until 950512 under activity HB, it will extend
091520 - completion of Relocation work about 4 months beyond the 6 month
091521 - extension period. Accordingly, it is advantageous to Sierra to
091522 - approve pre-contract payments to PG&E so Engineering can
091523 - commence oa 941212, rather than wait until 950512.
091524 -
091525 -
091526 - The overall project is shown to complete 970131, approximately 5
091527 - months prior to PG&E's commitment to Sierra. At this time when the
091528 - requirements of GO 131-D are only be discovered through experience,
091529 - it is prudent to expedite work that could be delayed, such as
091530 - engineering, in order to reduce the chance of becoming overwhelmed by
091531 - inchoate requirements.

131701 - Need instructions from MS on printing schedules without summary
131702 - bars.
131703 -
131704 - Tried Help on "Summary Bars". Looking for suppression. Bill
131705 - suggests using Format, Bar Styles, and in that deleting the Summary
131706 - Bar symbol. Print the Schedule. Then add them back, compress all
131707 - detail, and print it again.
131708 -
131709 - This sort of works. It is a hassle to reconstruct the Summary
131710 - Bars, but since they all come in at once, it is not as burdensome
131711 - as it could be.
131712 -
131713 - We can suppress all detail, by first clicking in top left corner of
131714 - the schedule screen above the task number field. This selects all
131715 - activities in the schedule. Then select "-" on the menu bar to "Hide
131716 - all subtasks."

1320 - 1441 discussion with Bill
1321 -
132101 - He likes the new schedule format and WBS, except he wants to submit
132102 - subsidiary summary bars, rather than show only the main WBS summar-
132103 - ies.
132104 -
132105 - Submission to Sierra
132106 -
132107 - Bill indicated that PG&E would submit only the Summary to Sierra,
132108 - rather than the detailed backup.

1324 - 1507 Implemented Summary Revisions
1325 -
132501 - I tried to modify ref OF 2 and 3 to apply the summary schedule ideas
132502 - Bill suggested.
132503 -
132504 - This does not seem to work as well as hoped. Activities that are not
132505 - sub-summaries, still show up with the result we have a mixture of
132506 - summary bars and a few networked tasks. We can click in "Task Infor-
132507 - mation" to "Roll up into Summary," but if there is a sub-summary task
132508 - above the task we want to roll up, in the schedule outline flow, the
132509 - task will not roll up.
132510 -
132511 - We can solve this by making new multiple sub-summary bars for every
132512 - primary summary. An example is "Filings." It has two tasks for FERC
132513 - and a sub-summary task for GO 131-D. If we make a new summary level
132514 - for the two FERC tasks, then we can roll them up and get two sub-sum-
132515 - maries under Filings. The same kind of thing occurs for Project
132516 - Evaluation, Construction.
132517 -
132518 - Perhaps rather than create new sub-summary activity bars, we could
132519 - just include attached Notes with the scope of each main WBS
132520 - summary bar in the schedule submitted to Sierra and others.
132521 -
132522 - For some reason, however, the Notes are not fully printing when we
132523 - call just the summary tasks. This may have to be done manually.

1328 - 2048 discovered method
1329 -
132901 - Found we can use Filter on main menu to print all of the summary
132902 - tasks. The report is a little confusing. Seems more cluttered to
132903 - me.
132904 -
132905 - Can also print just "critical" tasks, using the Filter option. I
132906 - then removed the "Resource" param from the Bar Styles "Text" option,
132907 - and was able to single space a printed report, showing only
132908 - "Critical" activities.
