0810 - Summary/Objective
0811 -
081101 - Installed current SDS program on Discovery's cpu for training.
081102 - Continueed training support of Discovery staff.
081103 - Printed the reports on Lesson Plan for Training and SDS class.
081104 - Provided training data, January for Rod.
081105 -
081106 -
0812 -
0813 - Loaded Updated SDS code on
0814 - Discovery's CPU
0815 -
081501 - When I arrived this morning, started to load the SDS code to Steve
081502 - Valentine's computer Harold had designated yesterday, for Discovery's
081503 - development workstation, ref SDS 2 line 042210. However, that machine
081504 - would not work, so I put updated code on the machine with the mono-
081505 - chrome monitor. Had to modify the program to work on monochrome, for
081506 - the code changed since I arrived on Monday and first loaded the
081507 - program on that machine, ref OF 1 - 6.
081508 -
081509 - I think there are still some problems in Help code for monochrome
081510 - mode, 04701, that need correction.
081511 -
081512 - Harold worked on correcting the difficulty with the color cpu, but it
081513 - was not ready by close of business. Meeting at the end of the day, I
081514 - emphasized the benefit to Discovery's marketing efforts of demon-
081515 - strating SDS on a color computer.
081516 -
081517 - Toward the end of the day I loaded my SDS records for January 91 onto
081518 - Discovery's computer, so they have some data to demonstrate how the
081519 - data base works.
081520 -
081521 - Doc Log failure
081522 -
081523 - Harold encountered problem getting the Doc Log report to run. He
081524 - created some entries in his records for today, and ran a report. I
081525 - think we tried running a report on my data base, and it came up
081526 - empty. I ran same specification on my machine which was set up on
081527 - the next desk, and it worked okay.
081528 -
081529 - This is an anomoly that needs work. Did not have time to evaluate
081530 - with debug.
081531 -
081532 - VGA Demo CPU
081533 -
081534 - Harold advised he will get a machine with a VGA color monitor set up
081535 - this evening on which I can load SDS tomorrow morning.

0818 - Training Discovery Staff
0819 -
081901 - Spent most of the day assisting Maury work on all of the features of
081902 - SDS. He is making good progress. This effort uncovered 4 or 5 bugs I
081903 - will fix this evening so I can load a corrected program tomorrow
081904 - morning.
081905 -
081906 - We created several CNS records, and successfully loaded them into a
081907 - record. Started a DMS "0" file for a directory Maury set up in the
081908 - Subject Index on developing training materials for SDS. He used the
081909 - line draw feature successfully.

160804 - Had a philosophical discussion with Morri about applying SDS.
160805 -
160806 - He is not converting reports of work accomplished into Diary records,
160807 - but is carrying them as scheduled tasks forward. He makes some
160808 - notations within a record to segment different dates, but this
160809 - duplicates the objective of the Diary and is not susceptible to SDS
160810 - reporting. Morri explains his position that he does not want to report
160811 - a thing as "done" until it is completly done.

180601 - Demonstration to Others
180602 -
180603 - Harold sat in about mid-morning on the training effort, but only for a
180604 - short while due to his heavy schedule. He was there for some of the
180605 - demonstration to his support staff, Michael, Robert, Lisa, and
180606 - Harold's secretary, Caroline. Robert used my computer and went
180607 - through the exercises using the Menus and my instruction, for the rest
180608 - of the group. Harold emphasized the importance of using the menus.
180609 - This was successful in that the student observers were excited about
180610 - the functionality of stepping back through time, bit by bit; or
180611 - alternatively assembling chronologies on particular subjects.
180612 -
180613 - Making F1 the execute key in the menus is very foreign. We need to
180614 - try to make this the Enter key in the menus.

180617 - SDS Demonstrators/Trainers
180618 -
180619 - I emphasized the importance of developing staff who can demonstrate
180620 - and support the product. Harold and Buck indicated they expect
180621 - Michael will commence learning the program. He has time in the
180622 - afternoon's to use the computer on which I am loading SDS. Maury will
180623 - continue his training on the same machine in the evenings.

181001 - I printed this (did not print well, but was readable), and submitted

181003 -
181004 - Showed Maury how to make a separate "Lesson Plan" file using my notes
181005 - as an initial guide for finalizing a lesson plan and sylabus.
181006 -
181007 - Maury asked about how to bring the Help explanations into separate
181008 - files so Discovery can prepare training materials. I showed him how
181009 - to do this, and advised that Discovery needs to request from Welch the
181010 - right to use this information for its marketing and training mater-
