- You probably know that my report to you of a rash on my lower
- arm with a few "light sprinkles of dots' in the morning, and
- which I thought really didn't need to bother the doctor about,
- ref SDS 12 MS3Q, turned into a big mess by the afternoon, and I
- was back in the ER, and then hospitalized. ref SDS 13 KZ9J The
- doctor released me on Wednesday to come home. ref SDS 16 JR9N
- I seem to be stable for now. Feels great to flex my "shopping"
- muscles. Just wondering what will pop up next on the medical
- "radar." My big hope right now is to get well enough to fly.
- Doctor Johnson has grounded me for awhile. I would love to see
- Greece, maybe Egypt, and Israel (with flack jacket of course).
- ref DIT 1 0001

- This responds to Arlette's letter on 061027 asking Millie for results

- 2. During my regular "treatment cycle" meeting with the doctor on
- October 20, he asked to see a coagulapathy report on my son,
- who was treated this past July for recurrent pulmonary
- embolism. Since I am also being treated for recurrent PE, the
- genetic link requires investigation to assess my personal
- risks. Yesterday, I received the report, which consists of 5
- pages in PDF file format, and apparently rendering documents
- faxed via telephone. The quality is very poor and difficult to
- read. To support review by the doctor, I summarize findings...

- ..
- [On 061110 primary care physician received the coagulapathy
- report on first-degree relative submitted today on 061103,
- ref SDS 20 VR6F; the paragraph on risks and follow up to
- treat pulmonary emboli, ref SDS 20 N18S, was highlighted in
- the doctor's printed version, ref SDS 20 N18S; the doctor
- advised that the report shows positive findings for
- acquired rather than inherited DNA genetic risk for blood
-            clots, and in this case pulmonary emboli, ref SDS 20 626L;
- the doctor recommended against further measures to evaluate
- patient profile, including defer hypercoagulable state work
- up, and indicated no adjustments required in diagnosis and
- treatment. ref SDS 20 JT6N
- ..
- 3. Hypercoagulable state work up of family member who recently
- suffered recurrent pulmonary emboli indicates factor V and
- prothrombin G20210A mutations are negative. Test results are,
- however, consistent with a Lupus Anticoagulant (an
- antiphospholipid antibody). Cardiolipin AB IGM tested at 23,
- well above the target range of 15 that signals positive
- results. The number "23" is circled in handwriting, indicating
- heightened interest. There is no analysis nor summary
- explanation expressly stating genetic risk for thrombosis,
- including pulmonary emboli. Prior research seems to suggest
- these findings demonstrate genetic disposition for PE in the
- family member. and further that patients with family history of
- blood clot problems together with recurrent thrombosis present
- as "strongly thrombophilic" and should get extensive evaluation
- for thrombophilias to guide diagnosis and treatment.

- treat pulmonary emboli, ref SDS 0 N18S, was highlighted in
- the doctor's printed version, ref SDS 20 N18S; the doctor
- advised that the report shows positive findings for

-            clots, and in this case pulmonary emboli, ref SDS 20 626L;
