- Opening Files Listed in SDS on the ACE Intranet Still Failing
-
- Gary advised that problems opening files listed in SDS on the ACE
- intranet system, have not been solved by improvments to SDS sumbmitted
- on 040618. ref SDS 3 5O4N
- ..
- At the time of the call today, Gary had made some investigations, and
- indicated that the SDS code seems to be working correctly, so there is
- a mystery to resolve.
-
- [...below, further research seems to confirm SDS code is
- running correctly. ref SDS 0 4M7N
- ..
- When we reviewed, today, the record on 040618 regarding the letter
- Gary drafted for his boss, Steve, ref SDS 2 LH6N, Gary noticed the
- explanation of difficulties he had using a browser during a meeting
- with Cal on 040611. The record at that time reports difficulties
- opening other files on the ACE system, which Cal planned to
- investigate. ref SDS 2 M35Q Today, Gary feels the prior problems on
- 040611, which Cal is investigating, seem similar to the problems that
- prevented opening files on the ACE intranet that are listed in SDS
- records.
- ..
- Gary later reported that prior problems using ACE turned out to
- be different from the problem using SDS to access flies on the
- ACE system. Therefore there is still a mystery to solve this
- problem so that Gary can open files listed in SDS records that
- are stored on the ACE intranet system.
- ..
- [On 040701 Gary discovered a solution of converting % to %%
- in a filename parameter to open on the Internet or an
- intranet. ref SDS 3 WM8O
- ..
- [On 040720 Gary reports another problem opening files with
- long filenames, ref SDS 4 TU6X, and this was solved, also
- reported on 031102. ref SDS 4 OV4I
- ..
- Gary tested improvements to open files with long filenames on his
- local computer, which was another objective on 040618. ref SDS 3 M35J
- He advised that this feature worked correctly for the test case tried
- today.

- This evening experimented opening the address on ACE that Gary
- submitted on 040618. ref SDS 3 5O4N
- ..
- This experiment seems to show that SDS is putting the full address on
- the NTVD screen (running under .cmd rather than .bat), and that
- Internet Explorer is opening the full address. In this case, a
- permission box is opened to ask for password, and when this is closed,
- there is an error message saying the site is restricted. However, the
- address is in the address box, and it is the same that is on the NTVD
- screen, which is the same that Gary submitted.
- ..
- This record suggests that SDS is running correctly. There was a
- concern that we might be getting an environment error that was
- experience today on another matter, and that results in truncating the
- address. Investigation this evening seems to show that is not
- occurring on this matter, so the explanation of the problem may be
- with Gary's computer and Aerospace company, per Gary's comments this afternoon.
