- Summary/Objective
-
- Follow up ref SDS 10 0000, ref SDS 6 0000.

-
-
- Chris tried to help "customize" viewing the Stanford broadcast online,
- so the Media Player program could be run separately from the web
- browser. We were unable to accomplish this configuration and also
- have the Powerpoint notes display, so changed it back to run Media
- Player within the web browser.

-
- Called Mike the next day.
-
- He has not had time to review the letter.
-
- Mike asked if it automates creating links?
-
- We reviewed the debate among people at Intel and NSF about what
- "automated management" means. I explained SDS creates some links
- automatically, but the larger power is enabling people to create
- custom links quickly, and to draw on a large base of experience
- quickly and accurately. Since the human mind reasons based on
- experience, this method and capability significantly enhances human
- capabilities, which is the goal Doug discussed in his opening lecture
- on 000106. This capability can be thought of as enhancing alphabet
- technology by integrating time with information.
-
- Some people like the SDS environment and recognize value. Others do
- not, so it is easy for Mike to make an independent judgement about
- whether to inquire further, simply by spending 20 minutes or so
- reviewing the materials in the Welch letter. ref DIP 2 0001
-
- Mike said his work entails notifying people of classes and tests, and
- after these events are over, the information is no longer relevant, so
- it is "pitched."
-
- I explained Com Metrics may not be helpful for him, because it helps
- people save and organize information that is important, and convert it
- into useful "intelligence." Further, the human mind does not "pitch"
- anything. It simply recedes into the subconscious and impacts
- decisions below the level of conscious awareness. This presents a
- risk of error that is avoided by using SDS on manage important
- information.
- ..
- Mike will review the letter and let me know his feeling about
- how it can help SCPD.
