Dear Tom,
On Jun 16, I submitted a proposal for a research grant, and listed you and Steve Pinker as possible reviewers, for reasons in the record on Jun 14, 1999.
Yesterday, Sarah Nerlove at NSF, called. She indicated you would be an excellent choice to review the proposal, and that if you are not available, Steve Pinker has the expertise and standing at NSF to perform the review.
The Technical Proposal cites Steve's work under prior NSF grants, and his book, How the Mind Works. Both the proposal, and my paper on the New World Order..., are linked to your paper on LSA, which you submitted on Feb 29, 1996.
I called and talked to Amy in your office today. She said you are just back from Italy; so, welcome home. I will call tomorrow to discuss your thoughts on this.
