Basement Civil Review

This is the first meeting between Kwan Henmi and AGS to review progress on the construction design phase. Ivan Romano and Clonia Cautis reviewed a drawing presented by AGS showing grades and civil features in the basement.

  1. Basins

Clonia noted that the AGS drawing shows a basin was moved that should not have been moved, and so the original location needs to be restored.

Ivan marked the two basins that need to be moved in order to resolve conflicts with structural column footings.

  2. Remove unnecessary information on civil drawing.

Clonia noted that the civil drawing should not show work outside the property lines. There is some detail on the civil drawing near the entry ramp. Clonia marked this to be removed from the drawing.

Clonia asked that unnecessary lines be removed from the civil drawing based on the scale at which the drawing is prepared.

Clonia requested that a note on the drawings designating a "storage room" be removed from the drawing.

  3. Curbs and Line Striping

Clonia and Ivan reviewed the scope and layout of curbs and stripping. Curbs were identified with green, and line striping was marked with blue highlighter.

Clonia reported that notes are missing on scope and requirements for this work.

Areas for "zebra" stripping were identified.

  4. Handicapped Parking

Clonia advised that parking for handicap parking is not required.

  5. Access to mechanical storage areas.

There was discussion that there is no requirement for access to mechanical rooms, and therefore none should be provided in the civil drawing for the project.

  6. Trash Compactor Access

Clonia asked if AGS has established that there is adequate room for a service truck to access the trash compactor.

Ivan asked about the impact of curvature of entry and exit ramps on ability of trucks to manuever at this location.

  7. Coordinate Drawings

Clonia suggested that AGS contact the mechanical and electrical consultants to review those drawings for impact on civil work.

AGS needs to confirm elevations of structural steel.

  8. Drainage Slopes and Grades There was discussion that AGS prepare sections through the entry and exit ramps showing elevations to verify there is sufficient slope for drainage.

AGS has raised some grades a few tenths.

AGS has incorporated the 3" grade adjustment from the change in the design of the structural mat system, as discussed at the meeting on Oct 1, 1998 with SDE.

Drainage should be accomplished with slopes rather than a pit.

  9. CADD Computer Filename Procedures

Ed asked if CADD files for updated drawings used the same filename as the drawings being replaced?

Bolivar advised that the JV uses the same filenames for updated drawing files. Therefore, to retain the prior versions, the files have to copied to a new name or a different directory in order to avoid writing over the prior files.

Action / Decisions Pending / Follow up

KH will provide a sketch on moving the floor drains.

AGS will change their drawing to adjust the location of floor basins that conflict with column footings, and will replace the basin that was moved in error.

AGS will remove detailing for civil work outside the property line, and will remove other unnecessary information in the drawings.

AGS will revise drawings to correct location of curbs and line striping.

AGS will verify access to trash compactor and provide a trace to JV team, showing results of review.

AGS will contact mechanical and electrical consultants to review drawings for impact on civil drawings.

KH will provide backgrounds with structural steel elevations needed by AGS.

Gensler/Michael Willis/Kwan Henmi will rely on these notes as the approved record of matters discussed and conclusions reached during this meeting unless written notice to the contrary is received by Gensler/Michael Willis/Kwan Henmi within seven calendar days of the issue date of these meeting notes.
