Dear John,
Thanks for copies of correspondence you have developed the past few days, and for your ideas in our meeting on September 27.
To keep you posted, on September 29 I talked to Doug about progress on KM; action items are pending. On October 4 a letter to the DKR team reviewed the need to define customers for KM, particularly why huge needs, alone, do not drive this market, illustrated by the DKR team's effort to define a deliverable, reported on September 28.
On October 11, a letter to Pat Lincoln at SRI set out opportunities for a research effort; yesterday a letter to Cliff Joslyn identified research the Los Alamos National Laboratory can support in their speciality of mathematical modeling. Research is not necessary to deploy Knowledge Management, but it provides a path that helps people discover the opportunity for saving time and money, which otherwise is difficult to grasp.
Your work and that of many others provides the critical mass of energy and resolve for pioneering this vital new field. Please keep in touch.
Sincerely,
THE WELCH COMPANY
