Subject:   Re: KM in New World Order

Dear Rod,

Thanks for letting me know of your interesting papers. I skimmed the paper the New World Order Needs Old Time Religion

I'm especially intrigued by your paper on POIMS [explaining a concept of intelligence that can be aided by technology.]

I'm always happy to read stuff that brings out underlying structure. Of course, we use our own words to talk about these things.

One of the most helpful structures that I work with is the one you describe: plan, perform, report. I think of it as the division of everything into three persepctives, specifically, its representation as "exist, act, think" where

exist - take a stand (I think a lot, but do I take a stand?)

act - follow through (I believe, but do I do it?)

think - reflect on actions (I do, but do I think about it?)

It's very interesting to me the connections that you make between these three [plan, perform, report] and time: past, present, future.

Conducting this process (the plan-peform-report cycle), to my understanding, lets us keep a stable meaning.

I'm also interested in your idea of "concurrent discovery".

It's also interesting to hear about your experiences with your Schedule Diary System.

I think our laboratory could be helpful if you would like to work with colleagues. I hope to call you (or you may call me) to talk whether there is an objective and endeavor important to you that might relate to "caring about thinking" and for which our laboratory might be a helpful context.

There is a wealth of useful concepts in your papers, and if you allow me to choose excerpts, and you agree to place them in the public domain, then I would gladly offer you free membership in our laboratory.

We have two objectives that might interest you. One is "thinking about our stands", Harmony of Motivation, interating tools to make for an enjoyable workplace. Steve Raiff is leading our work on that at

Another objective is "thinking about other actions", Agreement on Principles, building a team of people from scratch by building a shared language of actions, experiences, principles...

I hope to speak with you soon,

Sincerely yours,
