| Subject: | DOSX Load High Memory Problem |
Dear Justin,
This responds to your letter on April 23, 2001 asking for a procedure to configure Windows NT so that DOSX loads high to maximize memory.
As shown in the record on April 23, we did not get a solution from Microsoft; so, as things now stand, this is a product defect, in that when we received our computer from the vendor on February 2, 2001, DOSX was loading high under Windows 2000 (note we are not running NT, but W2K is very similar, particularly on this matter). System failures required re-installing the operating system, and subsequent installation failed to configure the initial condition that loaded DOSX into upper memory. On March 10 Microsoft reported difficulty solving the problem, and has since taken no further action. I called Microsoft today, to follow up, but was unable to speak with a responsible party, so a message was left asking about progress.
Sorry to have taken so long to respond. Things have been very hectic. Hope you found another solution. In our case, we only need DOSX once in a great while, so we remark it out of autoexec.nt, and plug it in when necessary. This is not a productive solution, but hopefully Microsoft will resolve the matter soon.
