Subject:   Performance Problem Fixed
Need Support for Memory; System Maintenance
Case SRX010207601263

Dear Joe,

Thanks for your letter on March 9 confirming the dosx memory management problem that is an important part of this case.

First, some good news.

Looks like we have solved the problem of poor performance under Windows 2000 reported to Microsoft on February 7, 2001 under case SRX010207601263, as follows....

C13 is a personal computer with a Pentium 4 1.4 GHz, 400 MHz bus and high performance hard drive (see invoice #0100468 dated February 2, 2001 for particulars) It runs 13 times slower under Windows 2000 than a 650 MHz PC also configured with Windows 2000.

On or about March 11, 2001 this problem was solved by expending an additional $240, plus approximately 150 hours of labor to convert SDS from using Supersort to using OTS. as reported in the record on March 1, 2001.

Your letter on March 9 verifies earlier findings by Microsoft on February 7, that dosx is not functioning satisfactorily under Windows 2000. Please let me know your plans for solving this problem as set out in Microsoft's letter on February 9.

Sincerely,

THE WELCH COMPANY
