0604 - ..
0605 - Summary/Objective
0606 -
060601 - Follow up ref SDS 9 0000, ref SDS 8 0000.
060602 -
060603 - Was able to use W98 backup feature to temporarily replace the CD RW
060604 - drive.
060605 -
060606 -
060607 -
060608 -
060609 -
0607 -
0608 -
0609 - Progress
0610 -
061001 - Since the Sony CD RW drive is being sent for service, per the record
061002 - today, ref SDS 9 0001, I want to begin using another backup system,
061003 - using W98 internal methods.
061004 -
061005 - Will backup to E drive.
061006 -
061007 - 1. Mainly this is for Interim daily backups, so I can recover
061008 - when a file is deleted incorrectly.
061009 -
061010 - 2. This will be mainly only a few MB a day, and we can end start
061011 - over every 60 days or so.
061012 -
061013 -
061014 -
061015 - Backup Install on CPU11
061016 -
061017 - This program is not installed, so I installed it.
061018 -
061019 - It is a Seagate program.
061020 -
061021 - This provides a screen, exactly like Spressa. There is an indication
061022 - that Spressa is merely this same program.
061023 -
061024 -
061025 - ..
061026 - Interim Backup Specification Omits W98 Code
061027 -
061028 - Created an Interim backup routine. It included W98 on the I: drive.
061029 -
061030 - This adds some 20MB by itself, so I created a different specification
061031 - that omits the W98 directory on I. We really don't need to backup
061032 - W98, because the registry is backed up by the system once a day, and
061033 - if there is a problem with the operating system, the normal remedy is
061034 - to run w98 setup.
061035 -
061036 - The specification I developed was...
061037 -
061038 -
061039 - Where to back up
061040 -
061041 - This is in the lower left corner of the screen.
061042 -
061043 - File - leave this as is.
061044 -
061045 - Set the box below as follows...
061046 -
061047 - E:\BU\yymmdd
061048 -
061049 - This sets the name of a file for the backup on the e: drive
061050 - in a directory "BU" for backup. Each time a backup is
061051 - performed set yymmdd to the year, month and day of the
061052 - backup. If more than one backup is performed in a day,
061053 - append a, b, ect., to the year.
061054 -
061055 - The backup program will automatically append .qic to the
061056 - filename, so it will look like this..
061057 -
061058 - E:\BU\yymmdd.qic
061059 -
061060 -
061061 - What to Backup
061062 -
061063 - c: 00
061064 - 10
061065 - 01
061066 - 09
061067 - 10
061068 - sd
061069 -
061070 - These are the only directories that generate new content
061071 - on a daily basis. The other directories on c are for
061072 - specific programs, and if there is a problem with them,
061073 - they are installed again.
061074 -
061075 - d: check this to backup everything everyday. It has SDS
061076 - records that change daily.
061077 -
061078 - There should be nothing else on d:
