0706 - Summary/Objective
0707 -
070701 - Follow up ref SDS 10 0000, ref SDS 8 0000.
070702 -
070703 - Got some clarification on the problem Wayne encountered that indicates
070704 - it may be the Schedule extension feature, which was fixed on 980821,
070705 - per analysis below. ref SDS 0 2574
070706 -
070707 - Submitted ref DIT 1 0001 responding to Wayne's letter received this
070708 - morning, per below, with link to this record, and also transmit
070709 - updated SDS program code, per instructions below. ref SDS 0 0320

071103 -
071104 - Follow up ref SDS 10 8399, ref SDS 8 8774.
071105 -
071106 - Received ref DRT 1 0000 from Wayne responding to my letter yesterday,
071107 - ref DIP 3 0000, per the record at ref SDS 10 8399.
071108 -
071109 - Wayne zipped his SDS records, but we got a file P instead of ds
071110 - because I gave him the wrong zip command string, forgot to enter -P in
071111 - the record sent to him yesterday. ref SDS 10 4290
071112 -
071113 - I sent a direct email without an HTML letter, asking him to send
071114 - another zip file using -P instead of just P.
071115 -
071116 - Wayne says the Schedule 00 file has some record ID strings on dates
071117 - beginning with 991201, ref DRT 1 0710, thus...
071118 -
071119 - 7November 29, 1999 Monday

071123 -
071124 - ...so this is an error, although off hand it is not clear it would
071125 - cause the SDS program to fail during initialization.
071126 - ..
071127 - Wayne says the Schedule 00 file runs to sometime in the year
071128 - 2003.
071129 -
071130 - This seems more likely to be causing the problem, because it relates
071131 - to the error he is getting from the operating system, reported in his
071132 - letter yesterday. ref DRP 3 9324
071133 -
071134 - Error calling Command.com
071135 -
071136 - This is typically a memory error caused because the file is too big. A
071137 - Schedule of 2 - 3 years out may cause this.
071138 -
071139 -
071140 - ..
0712 -
0713 -
0714 - 1005 called Wayne
0715 -
071501 - I suggested deleting everything except for 4 months out, or below the
071502 - month after the last entry in his Schedule, which ever is greater.
071503 -
071504 - Be sure that the last line left in the 00 file is the last day of the
071505 - month. In other words the last date in the file should be the last
071506 - day of a month.
071507 -
071508 - Open the 00 file in the editor, and turn on the command window with
071509 - Shift F7.
071510 -
071511 - Hit the End key to place the cursor at the beginning of the Command
071512 - Window.
071513 -
071514 - Enter 9999d
071515 -
071516 - Press [End} or the [Home} key to execute the Command. Do NOT press
071517 - Enter, because it is configured to do other stuff.
071518 -
071519 - Another way to delete all lines from the cursor to the end of the
071520 - file is to place the cursor on the line from which you want to begin
071521 - deleting and press F1 Alt F8.
071522 -
071523 - He can see if this works before sending me his zipped up SDS files.
071524 -
071525 - I explained the following...
071526 -
071527 - 1. The Schedule automatically extends itself by 6 months the
071528 - first time it is started each day, if the Schedule is less
071529 - than 1 year.
071530 -
071531 - This occurs until the Calendar has at least 1 year of
071532 - calander dates.
071533 -
071534 - A calendar could have say 5 months, and if 6 months are
071535 - added, it still only has 11 months. Therefore, the code will
071536 - add another 6 months the next day, because there are less
071537 - than 1 year of calendar dates. This can result in having up
071538 - to 1.5 years of calendar dates. It is not clear why Wayne's
071539 - Schedule would extend to the year 2003, unless the command in
071540 - the File menu to extend the Calendar was used. Possibly this
071541 - was done by accident, or possibly the code is not well
071542 - written and it extends itself anyway.
071543 -
071544 - 2. Reduce Calendar - Schedule File menu
071545 -
071546 - At the bottom of the Schedule File menu there is a function
071547 - to reduce the Schedule calendar so there is at least 4 months
071548 - of calendar date lines, or to below the end of the last month
071549 - in the Schedule for a task is entered.

071902 - SDS Program Correction on 980821 Fixed Problem
071903 -
071904 - Actually, it seems this problem may have occurred to me within the
071905 - past 6 months.
071906 -
071907 - Yes, on 980821 there is a record that I had the same problem Wayne
071908 - has encountered. ref SDS 2 4956
071909 -
071910 - I modified the code on that day.
071911 -
071912 - The last program update sent to Wayne was on 980803, so I need to send
071913 - updated code.
071914 -
071915 - I think I held off sending him updated code because the recent updates
071916 - seemed to cause problems getting his program to run correctly on his
071917 - computer, e.g., 980806. ref SDS 1
071918 -

071921 - Send Wayne Updated SDS Program
071922 -
071923 - Submitted ref DIT 1 transmitting updated SDS program code, as
071924 - follows...
071925 -
071926 - c: 01 04
071927 - c: sd 01
071928 - c: sd 03
071929 - h: sd 04
071930 - h: sd 05 (from 980101)
071931 -
071932 - This gives Wayne the latest HTML tools for Internet support, although
071933 - generally it seems like he is not using this stuff.
071934 - ..
071935 - Install as follows...
071936 -
071937 - zu -d -n cs c:\ *.*
071938 - zu -d -n hs h:\ *.*
071939 -
071940 - Modify Schedule...
071941 -
071942 - Use the Editor to open SDS initialization program file so that
071943 - Wayne's name is at the top.
071944 -
071945 - C>e \sd\03\047027
071946 -
071947 - Use Alt F8 to delete unneeded lines.
071948 -
071949 - Use F6 on a "blank" line (one without a User name) to add back the
071950 - same number of lines deleted, so that the overall number of lines
071951 - in the file is the same.
071952 -
071953 - [Wayne sent a letter the next day saying this fixed the problem
