060803 - Arrived in San Diego oa 1100.  Got a room at Radison Hotel.  Plan to
060804 - go to the Wild Animal Kingdom tomorrow.

060806 - Today we drove to Del Coronado for lunch, then went for a walk on the
060807 - beach.  Got back to the hotel oa 1410.  Millie went shopping at the
060808 - largest Mall in San Diego, which is just across the streed from the

060814 - While Millie was gone I called the hotel to fix the TV because there
060815 - was too much static.  We couldn't hear anything.  They sent an
060816 - engineer up and inspected the TV.  He agreed there was static,
060817 - although I am not sure that he did not feel it was acceptable.  The
060818 - engineer offered to move us to another room or to replace the cable
060819 - control panel, a Spectra Vision box.  I asked him what he recommends.
060820 - He said it is up to me.  I asked if he is aware of this problem in any
060821 - of the other rooms. The engineer said no one else has complained.  I
060822 - said that may mean the other rooms are okay. I asked what would be the
060823 - easiest fix for him. He said it makes not difference.  I said in that
060824 - case, change the cable control panel.

060826 - He left and got another cable control panel; installed it and did
060827 - some testing.  This unit did not produce the static that occurred on
060828 - the other one.

060830 - This evening after dinner, we were watching "Outbreak" with Dustin
060831 - Hoffman and Donald Sutherland.  Near end of the movie, just when they
060832 - had found the cause of the virus and the solution, the TV stopped. We
060833 - called the desk clerk.  She offered to send an Engineer and to give us
060834 - credit for the movie.  We said not to send an Engineer, just give us
060835 - the credit.  We then tried to turn the TV off.  It could not be turned
060836 - off and no channels could be changed.  Additionally, it was making a
060837 - moderate continuous tone.  We called the desk clerk again. She sent an
060838 - Engineer.

060840 - The Engineer, Andy, came up.  He investigated and found that the
060841 - Spectra Vision box did not have the correct code for our room.  He
060842 - feels this should have prevented the thing from working, and so will
060843 - report this as a problem to Spectra Vision.  Evidently, when the
060844 - Engineer changed the Spectra Vision box initially, he did not enter
060845 - the code in the system.

060847 - Andy got the code from his manager.  He programmed it and then tested
