SUBJECTS
Central Coast Aqueduct, PG&E
Schedule, Reports to CDWR, 941002p.mpp

0604 - ..
0605 - Summary/Objective
0606 -
060601 - Followed up work at ref SDS 19 line 64. Met Bob La Rue who works with
060602 - Ron Swilly, to plot the schedule, per ref SDS 19 line 129.
060603 -
060604 - Bob helped format the schedule to conform with the PG&E plotter
060605 - requirements. Main thing we did was change to single space lines, so
060606 - everything would appear on a single plot.
060607 -
060608 - Made a separate record on formatting work, ref SDS 21 line 38.
060609 -
060610 - We plotted the schedule. This took an hour, so Bill and I went to
060611 - lunch at Rincon Annex, ref SDS 20 line 102.
060612 -
060613 - After lunch the plot was finished. There were several defects, the
060614 - most notable was an angled line from the top left cornor of the
060615 - calendar, to the bottom of the plot at the time now line. There were
060616 - other similar extraneous lines.
060617 -
060618 - These lines seem to come from the plotter failing to fully lift
060619 - the pen and so it is dragging from one point to the next.
060620 -
060621 -
060622 - Bill and I decided to edit the plot to improve the appearance.
060623 -
060624 - We worked in Ron Swilly's office, since he is out of the office today,
060625 - for about 2 hours. Increased the font size for the project name.
060626 - Fully spelled out the name of the CDWR. Changed the name to PG&E
060627 - Transmission System.
060628 -
060629 -
060630 - Created critical paths for each WBS level
060631 -
060632 - Changed critical path color to red.
060633 -
060634 -
060635 - We tried a lot of font and activity bar alternatives to improve the
060636 - layout of the plot, but were unable to get any of them to improve the
060637 - initial condition.
060638 -
060639 -
060640 - Bill had to return to the office at 1400 for a conference call with
060641 - Lori, Kevin and Bob. I went to the 17th floor to ask Bob to plot the
060642 - new schedule. Could not find him, so finally tried the 15th floor.
060643 - Still could not find him, so went back to his office.
060644 -
060645 -
060646 - Bob finally came back to his office. He had started a plot of his
060647 - own, so we spent some time exploring SDS, ref SDS 22 line 26.
060648 -
060649 - Then went down to the 15th floor. His plot was still going. Jim
060650 - thought he might be using the wrong font. He said it should print
060651 - much faster and may be running slow, because the selected Arial font
060652 - is not native to the plotter. I said we want a San Serif font. Jim
060653 - said "Modern" would work.
060654 -
060655 - Bob and I tried this, and it did not look good on screen; we tried
060656 - Roman, and it did not look either, so went back to Aerial.
060657 -
060658 - Bob said the plot might crash because of the color we gave the criti-
060659 - cal path. He said the plotter has not done colors well on other
060660 - plots. So we will have to see what happens.
060661 -
060662 -
060663 - Bob will call me (I had to call him with my number when I got back to
060664 - 525 Market) when the plot is ready.
060665 -
060666 -
060667 -
0607 -
0608 -
0609 - 1618 called Bob back
0610 -
061001 - His plot is still not complete. He is going back up to floor 15 to
061002 - check and will call me to advise when our plot is started. He asked
061003 - if I can pick up the plot in the morning.
061004 -
061005 - I said I would like to see a plot this afternoon, so if there is
061006 - something wrong with it, we can fix it and try to plot overnight, and
061007 - pick it up in the morning.
061008 -
061009 - Bob has to leave at 1700 to take his girl friend to school. He
061010 - thinks Jim will stick around until about 1800. He will give Jim my
061011 - number and ask him to call me when the plot is ready.
061012 -
061013 - I advised Bill of this status. We feel that if the plots fail, we can
061014 - still use the one we have.
061015 -
061016 -
061017 -
061018 -
0611 -
0612 -
0613 - 1645 Jim called back
0614 -
061401 - He said our plot is going. Jim has agreed to stay until it is
061402 - complete. Talked to Jim. He thinks it should be finished by 1730.
061403 - I will just come by at 1730 and pick it up.
061404 -
061405 - Jim's phone: 973 9587
061406 -
061407 -
0615 -
0616 -
0617 - 1713 Bill picked up the plot
0618 -
061801 - I told him about the above understandings. Bill said he will pick up
061802 - the plot on the way home.
