Induction & Grounding Study
0505 - ..
0506 - Summary/Objective
0507 -
050701 - Followed up work at ref SDS 9 line 105, and discussions with Bill at
050702 - ref SDS 7 line 71. Preliminary analysis indicates current 50'
050703 - separation between pipeline and transmission line will require minimum
050704 - grounding mediation. Maria needs more information from DWR to
050705 - complete analysis and reach a final design on mediation.

0511 -
051101 - Steady State Analysis
051102 -
051103 - Maria advised that initial analysis based on a conservative estimate
051104 - of 630 amps which is the maximum load of the line, it appears the
051105 - maximum static state current that could be induced into the pipeline
051106 - is about 5 volts. She estimates that since the line is intended to
051107 - transmit only about 300 amps, that less than 3 volts will be induced
051108 - into the pipeline. This should not be harmful.
051109 -
051110 - Maria needs more information from DWR to finalize her design
051111 - recommendations.
051112 -
051113 - Fault Analysis
051114 -
051115 - This seems to analyse the condition if the power line fell to the
051116 - ground in some kind of accident, earthquake, etc. It appeared that
051117 - more work is needed on this condition.
051118 -
051119 -
051120 - Maria showed a letter or EM submitted previously to DWR listing
051121 - information she needs, which DWR has not answered. Basically, she
051122 - needs to see the plans for the pipeline project in order to evaluate
051123 - the specific design facilities.
051124 -
051125 -
051126 - Kevin will explain the status at the meeting this morning on this
051127 - topic, and suggest that Maria and DWR staff work together this
051128 - morning off-line from the main meeting to develop the information
051129 - PG&E needs.
051130 -
051131 - [Driving back from the meeting with Kevin and Jivat, we
051132 - considered that at the meeting this morning, CDWR was receptive
051133 - to Maria's study and recommendations.]

0705 - Summary/Objective
0706 -
070601 - Bill commented that he and Cynthia have had difficulty coding the
070602 - project estimate so it correctly reflects the budgets. They have
070603 - tried to modify formulas, but the complexity of the Excel estimate
070604 - file has hampered the effort.
070605 -
070606 - We considered making a copy of the file, or going back and getting an
070607 - earlier version from a backup. Bill said the project estimate is not
070608 - backed up daily, so they do not have an earlier version. Evidently
070609 - the network files are backed up daily (we all assumed this to be
070610 - true), but Bill said they generally do not keep project files on the
070611 - network. They are created and maintained locally, and each workstation
070612 - is not equiped with a daily or even monthly backup capability.

0906 -
090601 - Bill asked Kevin if he can get a copy of the contract. Kevin had a
090602 - general impression this had been previously submitted. He will take
090603 - care of it when he returns to SF.
