0506 - Summary/Objective
0507 -
050701 - Took about 2 hours to get Morris' Medit program files in sync with
050702 - mine. Were unable to get SDS to run with the new pgup and pgdn code
050703 - he created, although this may have only been our incorrect perception,
050704 - caused by not resetting Morris' profile.
050705 -
050706 - We mainly evaluated the existing menu system and considered various
050707 - designs that would integrate menus and help.
050708 - ..
050709 - Delivered the POIMS paper for Morris to review and comment, per
050710 - our telecon on 910126. ref SDS 2 2340
050711 -
050712 - We did not have time for him to review it today. He will submit
050713 - comments.
050714 -
050715 - [On 910310 received Morris comments on POIMS, called and discussed
050716 - his ideas. ref SDS 6 0751]
050717 -
050718 -
050719 - SDS Current Version
050720 -
050721 - Put the current version of SDS on Morris' computer, and left the tape
050722 - backup for him, so we have the program archived independently from
050723 - Welch.

0509 - E.EXE not working
0510 -
051001 - E.exe does it have problems with "sx" machines? It would not run on
051002 - some of IP Micro's machines, ref SDS 5.
051003 -
051004 - Morris feels we need to get one of IP Micro's machines on which e.exe
051005 - does not work to evaluate why?
051006 -
051007 -
0511 -
0512 - Menu/Help
0513 -
051301 - We considered this quite extensively, but I am not sure a specific
051302 - plan actually resulted.
051303 -
051304 - Improve Existing System
051305 -
051306 - First, Morris indicated we cannot simply create an interim solution of
051307 - improving the appearance of the existing menu system by interupting
051308 - the color on various lines. He may not have given this careful
051309 - analysis, since his main focus was toward creating an entirely new
051310 - menu system. In any case we did not examine this option, because he
051311 - felt it would require a major rewrite of the Medit code.
051312 -
051313 - Integrated Menus & Help
051314 -
051315 - Morris advocated doing this, but questions arose about managing 1.5 MB
051316 - of Help. Additionally, Help needs to be available independently of
051317 - the Menus as well as from within the menus. I wanted to avoid
051318 - rewriting Help, at least all at once as a precondition to getting the
051319 - menus going.
051320 -
051321 -
051322 - Menu design
051323 -
051324 - Morris proposed providing a mechanism of associating with each menu
051325 - entry a compiled macro, macro file, or simply a command, plus calling
051326 - the existing Help macro file.
051327 -
051328 - It is not clear to me how the Help macro file would know which Help
051329 - file to call.

0515 - Pending Improvements
0516 -
051601 - Objectives are shown at ref OF 1.
051602 -
051603 - Did not make any progress on this really, because of delays in getting
051604 - Morris' program and mine in sync.
