051201 - Donna is a "project manager" of some kind.  She was very skeptical
051202 - about the value of making a good record of performance.  I explained
051203 - the benefit to oneself in gaining heightened understanding about
051204 - issues and what needs to be done from writing down what was done.
051205 - Donna seemed to accept this proposition, but could not appreciate the
051206 - advantage of using SDS for the data base, instead of simply writing a

051210 - a year, they know what has occurred [so access to an SDS data base is
051211 - irrelevant]."  She was concerned that SDS entailed a great deal of
051212 - extra time writing information that otherwise would not be entered.

051214 - I explained that SDS provides an ideal environment to manage what
051215 - managers already write, and because of its supple, fast data entry
051216 - capability, people can write a little more in the same amount of
051217 - time.  Extra writing capability enables people to gain a better
051218 - understanding of their work, and recognize things that need to be
051219 - done, that otherwise are missed by relying on mental acuity.  Extra
051220 - writing also gives fast access to MORE information on solving prob-
051221 - lems and working together.  With each person doing a little better
051222 - and having a little better support from colleagues, the organization
051223 - can do MUCH better through improved synergy.  Donna remained
051224 - unconvinced of the value of SDS.
