- Arriving at 1230 pm, Pam, then Kim, and then Ron were all trying to

- Pictures are always a treat remembering loved ones. Today, everyone
- enjoyed seeing Millie in her teens, 20s and 30s. Many convey
- exceptional feeling, because the camera clearly loved Millie, due in
- part to the talent of first husband Ron Senior. Some of the early
- pictures captured beauty and wisdom of unfathomable dimension, that
- fortold a life of giving, caring, and strong determination.
- ..
- Ron Junior spoke for the sons (himself and Steve) with eloquence and
- deep feeling memorializing his mom. He was sensitive guiding others
- to tell their stories of life with Millie.
- ..
- Pam was her usual energetic self with compelling, emotional memories
- that illustrate why "everybody loves Millie." About half=way through
- Pam's eulogy for her mom, the computer software cycled through to the
- video of Millie modeling her new dreas, and thanking Peggy for help
- shopping, reported in memoriam. ref SDS 7 NM4F Pam paused for a
- moment while everyone watched and listend to Millie tell her own story
- embracing life with delightful optimism, joy, and caring for people,
- in memoriam. ref SDS 7 NL3I
- ..
- Pam read aloud a moving tribute from Millie's friend Iris, now in New
- York, but recalling fondly early times in the 60s and 70s, when the
- Buck's and Kiley's were acquainted through Ron's work. In the past 5
- years, Millie has visited Iris and her new husband (now deceased) in
- New York. About 2 years ago, Millie and Iris vacationed together in
- Las Vegas. So, this has been another enduring relationship cemented
- by Millie's strong character, cited in memoriam. ref SDS 7 RJ61
- ..
- Janna did not speak to the group, but was thankful that God touched
- her shoulder to remind in recent weeks, and in time to repair the
- bonds of friendship and care. Janna was grateful today, that so many
- came to share her experience of Millie's life and spirit, cited in
- memoriam. ref SDS 7 1V8L
- ..
- Peggy related meeting Millie in 1975, when they both worked for major
- textile manufacturers. Millie's boss, Charlie, was husband of Peggy's
- close friend Mary. Peggy, Mary, and Millie have been friends in
- continual touch for over 30 years. Peggy recalled today from all
- those years ago that Millie wrote on her job application that she was
- a "young 38." Millie has always been young in appearance, and will
- forever be "young at heart," amply demonstrated by wonderful pictures
- that Bill and Pam arranged for services today. Peggy and Millie went
- on to be pioneers for "career women," cited in memoriam. ref SDS 7
- NL3I They were among the first to break through the "glass ceiling"
- with appointment to the previous all-male bastion of "account
- manager." Millie was outstanding at compay events. She travelled
- regularly for meetings at Granitville headquarters in New York, and
- manufacturing facilities in Atlanta and around the country.
-
- [On 100810 1726 letter from Peggy appreciated memorial for

- mentioned in Peggy's eulogy today, on 100807, per above.
- ref SDS 0 IU60
- ..
- ..
- Benilda recalled colorfully and with vivid description Millie handling
- difficult situations with grace and diplomacy, setting an example for
- all at Lillic & Charles (now Nixon Peabody). She helped others
- recover when work and stress piled up from tensions of high-stakes
- legal practice with high-paid lawyers and big-money clients demanding
- perfection, reported in memoriam. ref SDS 7 NL51 Millie also helped
- train and guide others using ever more sophisticated software tools
- introduced beginning in the 90s.
- ..
- Chris explained her long and engaging friendship with Millie, Benilda,
- and Tina from the early days at Lillic & Charles beginning in the
- 1980s, and continuing after merger with Nixon Peabody. Chris feels
- many at the firm appreciated Millie's work ethic that inspired
- everyone to do their best. Chris admired Millie's skills for making
- people effective getting things done, but without causing frustration
- and anger, which Benilda characterized as "diplomacy," per above.
- ref SDS 0 KM96
-
- [On 100807 2107 letter thanks Benilda and Chris for
- enduring friendship that helped sustain Millie through many
- years of difficult treatments to enjoy a life worth living.
- ref SDS 11 016X
- ..
- Tina came with her husband, Ron. They both worked with Millie at
- Lillic and Charles. Ron (recently retired) was Millie's boss for
- awhile. He talked movingly of Millie's professional skills, her
- talent with people, and fundamental humanity that enriched the lives
- of others. Millie was always there volunteering overtime for
- emergency projects,
- ..
- Bob, my step-dad, and my cousin Robin drove 300 miles from Nipomo,
- South of San Louis Obispo; and my neice, Patty, and her husband,
- Pablito drove from New Port Beach near Los Angeles. As well, my
- sister-in-law Kathy, and her daughter, Amy with her husband Michael,
- came from Sacramento to celebrate Millie's life and remember our time
- together.
- ..
- Several told stories today, from knowing Millie at the gym and Canyon
- Ranch spa events, in memoriam. ref SDS 7 SO6O Millie set the standard
- for living with cancer and applying advancing years to combine wisdom
- from experience with vitality and energy of youth. An actress,
- perhaps Merle Oberon, is often cited for revealing the secret of aging
- gracefully is not trying to "look" 20 at age 40, but to continue the
- vigor of 40 at age 60. Millie was remembered today for extending the
- paradigm as a woman over 70, with energy, excitement, features, and
- involvement in life that inspire those half her age.
- ..
- Members from the Wellness Community also attended, and spoke of
- Millie's constant support for other patients, even while suffering
- decline herself, presented in memoriam, ref SDS 7 4R8K, and that
- Millie's personal struggle, inspired and guided other survivors to
- lead a life worth living with cancer, in memoriam. ref SDS 7 4R93
- ..
- Millie was always proud of her children and pleased by growth and
- development of her grandchildren. Today, was a special day joining
- all the elements of her time at home, on the job, social life, and
- health care. Millie would have been very pleased that so many
- wonderful people came together in celebration of her life and mission
- to leave the world a better place for all.
- ..
- Of course we expect to hear wonderful things about the departed at
- memorial services.
- ..
- Yet, somehow the deep emotion evident today from so many honoring
- Millie's life and character, ref SDS 0 KM9F, all make clear how
- priveleged and exceptional to live with Millie 24/7 for 30 years. She
- was in simplest terms a great "prize," which she alone could award.
- To be her chosen partner was the greatest honor possible, because all
- of the wonderful things people said today about Millie are true! She
- was easy and fun to be with at all times. She worked hard and played
- hard; she was challenging and insightful, witty and serious without
- being frivolous nor overbearing. She appreciated excellence and was
- understanding of circumstance, reported in memoriam, ref SDS 7 E65G,
- In a word, she was an "angel" who made life heaven on earth, with only
- one rule -- never give up.
- ..
- [On 100812 1426 Kathy writes commending memorial services
