- 1. Subject: CT Test Completed Using Power Port
- Date: Wed, 31 Dec 2008 17:14:49 -0800
- ..
- 3. The CT test yesterday used Power Port technology for pressure
- injection of contrast medium, which you ordered on 081210, and
- then clarified the referral on 081219. The test took about 20
- minutes. This improves by a factor of 10 work on 080425 trying
- to perform the CT test using conventional IV practices, which
- took about 3 hours. ref SDS 1 FP6F
- ..
- 4. The previous test last month on 081107 took about 60 minutes.
- ref SDS 20 0001
- ..
- 5. Saving 40 minutes on CT tests reflects synergy between advanced
- Bard Power Port Technology, good work in the Infusion Clinic,
- where Anne accessed the port in less than 10 minutes,
- ref SDS 38 UQ6L, and proactive efforts by Brenda in
- Interventional Services assisting Cassandra to coordinate the
- CT Department, as reported yesterday. ref SDS 36 MR6K Today,
- Pat, the CT technologist, and Helen from Interventional
- Services collaborated to make the test go smoothly and quickly,
- with Helen connecting the Huber needle, ref SDS 39 FF74, and
- Pat doing the disconnect. ref SDS 39 V279
- ..
- 6. Jennifer Hernandez, RT, was also very helpful clarifying the
- record. She added comments to the work order for a
- consolidated report, ref SDS 39 FF8M, in order to avoid
- confusion that occurred last month at UCSF on 081113 reviewing
- multiple reports that were issued days apart for the CT test on
- 081107. Jennifer seemed to explain that sometimes multiple
- reports are prepared by the analyst in order to correlate with
- account numbers assigned by the CT test equipment. Since my
- test requires a pass for the area below the neck, and another
- pass for above the neck, 2 tracking numbers are assigned
- automatically either by software, or the CT scanning equipment.
-
- [On 090106 Arlette advised that Kaiser issued 2 separate
- reports for the CT test today on 081230, rather than
- consolidate findings into a single report to prevent
- confusion and mistakes.
- ..
- [On 090106 Chris in CT Department talked to Dennis, and he
- suggested discussing the matter with the manager, Al
- Hutchins. ref SDS 40 L13L
- ..
- 7. Hopefully, duplication of narrative and multiple distributions
- that create confusion and doubt about findings with 2 reports,
- can be consolidated for the test yesterday into a single
- report.
-
- [On 090107 Kaiser issued multiple reports again for
- Millie's CT test on 081230. ref SDS 41 J85F
- ..
- 8. Jennifer noted that the analyst may be able to facilitate
- comprehensive review, avoid confusion, and accomplish Kaiser
- accounting requirements by entering both account numbers
- associated with respective scans presented in a single report.
- ..
- 9. Jennifer also noted in the work order to compare results today
- with results on the prior test on 081107, and further to
- correct the report for the CT test on 081107 that compared with
- the test on 080718. Jennifer asked the analyst to compare the
- test on 081107 with the previous test on 080911.
- ..
- 10. Excellent work by everyone today.
