- 1. Thank you for brining your concern regarding your stay at the
- Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Hospital to our attention. Your
- concern was received on June 27, 2006. At Kaiser Permanente we

- 2. Jim Hopkins who is the RN Interim Manager has informed me about
- the issues you encountered. It sounds as if there was a
- communication breakdown between the Engineers and the
- Registered Nurses regarding yor bed malfunctioning. Two calls
- were placed to the engineering department on a special line.
- Once there was no response, calls were escalated to the acting
- manager and further escalated to Mr Russ Frisk who is the
- Chief Engineer. The matter was handled the day he received the
- call which was unfortunately the day of your discharge. Mr
- Frisk will be refreshing the staff on how to contact the
- Engineers for patient care for future situations such as these.

- 4. Regarding the concern with the nurse awaking you when speaking
- with the patient that was sharing the room with you, the
- patient was hard of hearing and confused. It was a requirement
- to communicate with the member for her special needs to be met.
