- ..
- Summary/Objective
-
- Follow up ref SDS 15 0000. ref SDS 14 0000.
-
- On 040629 Morris made the suggestion to set "tabsoff" to prevent the
- end of file mark from showing up in the assembled files, using code in
- the record on 040626. ref SDS 14 0M3M
- ..
- Yesterday, Gary submitted a corrected file for 0102.htm, following up
- the record on 040630 requesting assistance. ref SDS 15 0001
- ..
- This solves the problem reported on 040626, ref SDS 14 N86Y, so that
- assembling the ASB file can now be accomplished. ref SDS 14 0001
- ..
- Gary reported that the file 0102.htm, which was thought to display
- correctly, reported on 040625, ref SDS 13 CJ8J, actually had a lot of
- errors, which he discovered by opening the files with a particular
- Java feature enabled for Internet Explorer. During a call yesterday,
- Gary provided assistance to configure settings for Internet Explorer
- that display file construction errors on Gary's computer, but not on
- c11 and c13. Gary suggested opening properties for Internet Explorer
- and then selecting the Advanced options. In these settings, we were
- unable to find any differences between his computer and c13 that
- relate to Java. Time was short, so Gary suggested trying "Java
- console enabled" set to on.
- ..
- Even though we were unable to configure c13 and c11 to display the
- Java command errors, Gary explained that the solution to eliminate
- error notices is to enter a control character "\" at the end of a
- string for a Java script command that is split between two quotes. In
- this case there about 150 Java command strings in the beginning of the
- file that were split into shorter lines supported by Medit, reported
- on 040626, ref SDS 14 G56O, and citing the work the day before on
- 040625. ref SDS 13 S66O
- ..
- Java script is clearly marked in the file, and the lines that are
- split between strings in quotation marks are fairly evident.
- ..
- Gary explained during a call that he had submitted a corrected file,
- but for some reason it was not received, so he sent the corrected file
- again, but that letter was also delayed in being received.
- ..
- As a result, work was started to apply corrections adding a \ at the
- end of Java command arguments delimited with quotations. This is
- tedious work, better done at the time the lines are split, in this
- case on 040625. ref SDS 13 S675 I got confused about differentiating
- between Java code and HTML. Gary later explained that lines split for
- HTML that is between quotes does not require the added control
- character \; only the Java script needes this, and it is all at the
- top of the file, about the first 500 lines, or so. This clarification
- was helpful on the scope of the adjustment that was needed.
- ..
- This evening, received both transmittal letters from Gary with the
- corrected file, 0102.htm, and so used it instead of doing the work
- over again.
- ..
- Not sure that these corrections were the actual cause for the
- constructed file 0201.htm not to render correctly. Gary found another
- error in the code that assembles the sections. The first file 0201a
- was actually copied twice into 0201, and this explains whey 0201.htm
- was about 26K bigger that 0102.htm, reported on 040626. ref SDS 14
- IA5K
- ..
- This seems more likely the cause of failed display reported on
- 040625. ref SDS 14 IA5K
