-
- Follow up ref SDS 2 0000.
-
- Improve memory management in subject index by applying Start command
- to macro files 03501 and 03502. Develop a natural process for
- segmenting large indexes into smaller files that can be searched when
- needed as a single large index.

- There are two things to accomplish....
-
- 1. Develop a simple system for segmenting index files, when needed
- and without taking any appreciable time, so that demand on
- computer memory is reduced. These indexes will be consolidated
- on occassion to look up something, but they need not be
- consolidated for stepping into the index from an SDS record
- control field, so this would be a big help on memory
- management.
- ..
- 2. Start command applied to open SI in a separate window to
- increase the amount memory available to handle existing files,
- which are reduced somewhat under step one. This will further
- greatly reduce the burden on memory in ordinary SDS sessions,
- especially reducing fragementation.
