Subject: Dial Up Networking

Was trying to follow the instructions for Dial Up Networking and ran into the following:

Click the Next button in the Make New Connection wizard. Enter your local access phone number. If you did not receive one at sign up, visit... look one up. Verify with the operator that the number is indeed local to you before using.

I didn't know of any local number, so I visited the JPS Web site and found that Montana is not listed. Hence, signing up will mean a long distance call each time I access the site via dial-up networking.

I am not sure how I explain long distance calls made by my computer to an auditor, but it doesn't look like something I want to try with my present precarious circumstances with my boss.

My computer has a fiber optic link to the state backbone that I normally use for internet access. Is there perhaps a way for me to access via that link?
