Discussion

  1. RJA will restudy the following areas: Basement level main occupancy.

Last conversation was to turn this into S3.

Clonia Cautis wants a reconsideration given the extensive amount of storage that will occur on the loading dock.

The separation between Prefunction and Exhibit at the Ground Floor along column line F. Last conversation was to make this a 1 hr separation with sprinklers at the glass doors. Clonia Cautis wants this reconsidered because originally this was an open connection and the doors were added later only for security reasons .

  2. The mezzanine/roof access stairs will be treated in the following manner:

    1. Ground floor: South stair from mezz will be enclosed, unrated. The other south stair providing a direct exit from exhibit to the street will be 2 hr., the Office will be relabeled as "unassigned" and treated as accessory to the exhibit area; therefore no rated separation is required.

    2. Ground Floor Mezz.: The south stair will be enclosed unrated, the north stair will be 2hr enclosed.

    3. Second floor south stair from mezz: enclosed, unrated.

      North stair, 2hr enclosed.

    4. Third floor stair that extends to roof: enclosed, unrated.

North stair will remain 1 hr.

The additional stair between cols E.5 and F that extends to the roof will be enclosed, unrated.

  3. The telecommunications closets near elevators 7 and 8 will treated as accesssory and will have nonrated walls that extend to the slab.

  4. The set of doors at col 2.6 from the exhibit hall to the small corridor will have one pair each that swings in opposite direction.

  5. RJA will review the basement kitchen grease duct enclosure for its scope in light of the use of the special duct wrap discussed with A&P on Oct 14, 1998.

The questions are do we need to follow the ducts with a two hr horizontal shaft enclosure under the roof where the ducts go to meat the exhaust fans, and does the two hr vertical enclosure need to extend directly to the hood in the basement.

Action / Decisions Pending / Follow up

RJA to communicate back by mid next week.

KH will modify the fire separation/exit plans by end of next week.
