Thanks to you and Lilly for hosting a wonderful dinner on Easter Sunday.
Millie and I love visiting you and the family in Grass Valley, and this weekend
was a special treat. Please let Pete know that he has changed our culinary
habits. On Monday, Millie was successful using Pete's directions to find the
New York sausages at Costco. Last night we had them for dinner and were
reminded again of the way you and Lilly prepared everything so delectably on
Sunday.

How has the power pole project progressed? Did things work out like you
expected using the tractor to move the pole into final position? It was a lot
of fun pitching in on Sunday to help with the initial rigging. Wound up with
only a "battle scars" -- sore knee and splinters; so lesson learned to wear
gloves next time. The kids are always insisting I use a glove for playing
catch, and I typically beg off for the low velocity family stuff. Probably
needed their input on the glove angle for your industrial strength task Sunday.
The knee is already recovered though, so overall no harm no foul.

Your mom may have mentioned that she is scheduled to begin treatments next
week. Yesterday she got good news that her request for
surgery
to have a port
installed to facilitate treatments, rather than poking around for a new spot to
insert a needle every week, has been moved up in the schedule, and so will be
completed in
time for starting treatments on
the 20th, per the record today, with links to relevant background.

Fortunately, thanks to hard work in the gym, your mom is in great shape
physically -- noted by the doctor on numerous occasions, as helpful in meeting
this next challenge of continuing treatments. There is naturally an additional
emotional toll that takes courage and determination to deal with on going
personal medical issues. You
and Ron and Pam are a huge source of strength and pride that eases this burden
with your calls and visits and letters, when time permits.
