Subject:   POIMS Reviewed for KM Support

Dear Denham,

Thanks for your letter today explaining issues arising from attribution to original works.

I appreciate very much that your group has discovered SDS and POIMS, and are investing your time and expertise to review this capability. The SDS record on the Internet shows promise for strenthenging communication, leading perhaps to a more efficient daily work environment, what some call a paperless, or virtual office. Accomplishing that goal, however, takes more than new tools. We need a range of enabling factors to move from IT to KM. This takes leadership with a broader vision that fosters a culture of knowledge, which your important work supports.

My record today provides some pointers you requested on the role of time and sequence in supporting Knowledge Management (KM).

Your outstanding work using Wiki to support Brint.com's knowledge repository reflects experience (reported in a letter on June 9, 2000) for building a stronger KM environment, which Doug Engelbart has in mind for his OHS/DKR project sponsored by SRI.

Sincerely,

THE WELCH COMPANY
