Dear Sandy,
Just following up our meeting on June 24, 2000. I know you are busy getting CoreTalk started, so there was no urgency in submitting the record. Your technology and business plans show great promise.
Just for fun, here is an example where e-business management methods might be be helpful.
I have been meaning to mention that John Deneen (jjdeneen@ricochet.net) seems to have contacts among VC folks, as a result of setting up a business for broadband wireless. John mentioned some weeks ago these plans have slowed while patent issues are being reviewed. I got the impression he has time available to support other projects. This might be a fit for you, if you need interim help chasing details, finding money, meeting people, etc., toward launching your business. John may be willing to contribute initially with a view toward future compensation, if the business takes off. So, just passing along an idea.
Recently, SRI has taken a stronger role in moving KM ahead. A business model is floating around that would include open source development, which is Doug Engelbart's goal. A presentation at SRI on July 27 showed how research at LANL on the mathematics of Knowledge Management are implemented by SDS. I didn't really follow the explanation, but it sounded useful.
Thanks very much for sharing your ideas on CoreTalk. Please keep in touch.
Sincerely,
THE WELCH COMPANY
Rod Welch
