Subject:   SDS Application for Project Management

Greetings,

Yes, I have seen POIMS but only scanned it previously. I went back and re-read it thoroughly. Now, I comprehend your questions and analysis to understand my previous e-mail.

Here is a brief background on me. I'm a Telecommunications Engineer for Puget Sound Energy, an investor owned utility in the Puget Sound area; in reality, I mainly do project management, and very little engineering. I am a member of PMI and plan to take the PMP exam in the near future. As part of my "professional development" study, I was searching the internet for "communication seminars Seattle"; one search hit directed me to one of your diary pages. Next day, after countless hours of research, I wrote you the e-mail.

One of my worst failures is my inability to properly organize documents, memos, etc. (i.e. should a purchase requisition be archived with other requisitions or in a project file, etc. Later when I need to retrieve it I can't seem to find it in neither file). This is the reason I became intrigued by SDS right away. I could file the document in "knowledge space" and create reference links to it from any relevant document or communication.

I may have misunderstood the relationship between SDS and OHS/DKR. I did understand that SDS is your proprietary system; but, I thought that you were "collaborating" on an SDS like application: OHS/DKR.

I do not foresee the company I work for embracing SDS; however, I am too far removed from the executives to understand if they would support SDS even with PG&E's experience as a reference. For me the anticipated use would be for personal knowledge management. To manage my projects' documentation, correspondence etc.; personal-family-data (i.e. who did I communicate with, about what, when, etc.); and education knowledge for our two children (my wife and I homeschool them).

I have read your SDS business plan and I'm thrilled that you have a plan to make your system available "to the masses" where others can benefit from your quest of intelligence.

Thank you again,

Sincerely,
