Subject:   EE Picture on Task Bar
ORDER NUMBER # 195885

On March 5, 2001 we purchased EE under Order #195885, and installed the product on a computer running w2k, in accordance with instructions received in your letter dated March 6, 2001, but received by us on March 5, as shown in our record on that date.

The EE program installed and ran successfully.

We congratulate RHS for good work producing this product.

EE puts a picture on the w2k task bar when the computer is powered up.

We don't want pictures on the task bar, and so looked for an option in your program to turn this feature off, but could not find it. Also, examined Start Startup menu to see if it is called at that location, but it does not seem to be there.

Please advise how to prevent EE from running when the computer is powered up, and placing a picture on the task bar. We prefer to run programs when convenient, and strive to avoid running software, except when needed. That was our intent in purchasing your product. If the DOS version is easier to control, we would be pleased to try it. Actually, we prefer to run all system maintenance in a batch routine, but w2k has lost some of this functionality.

The letter we received from Robin Hood Software says in part.....

This is a 30 day trial package of Evidence Eliminator which you can activate to full registered version using your Keycodes.

This conflicts with our understanding in placing the order to purchase EE, rather than to obtain a "30 day trial package," as stated in your letter. We used the keycodes provided in your letter to install the program. There was no evident operation for further "activating" anything.

Can you help on these issues please?

  1. Avoid EE running when system is powered up.

  2. Avoid EE putting a picture on the task bar, unless we set that configuration.

  3. Verify we have purchased the EE program.

  4. Can the run log be sent to an ascii file we can examine at will to see more carefully what was done?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

THE WELCH COMPANY
