Subject:   Backup CD ROM Drive Novaback InstantCD,
20374-N44270-16099

Today, we purchased Novabackup 6.6 under subject invoice for operation with an Exabyte Mammoth LT SE tape drive running under Windows 2000. We downloaded the Novaback 6.6 program and installed it. The program seems to run correctly.

We have following questions on the transaction...

  1. There is an icon on the task bar for scheduling Novaback up operations.

Where in the installation operation is the customer notified about the opportunity to put a reminder on the task bar to schedulr Novaback backup operations? I don't recall seeing anything about putting anything on the task bar.

How is the icon disconnected so it does not automatically show up on the task bar when the system is powered up?

  2. Where are logs stored for backups? We installed Novaback in the directory...

    h: 00 32

    There is a directory...

    h: 00 32 logs

    It has the following stuff...

    LOG.BLG LOG.VLG R08120.AIX R08120.BIX R08120.BLG R08120.VLG

Where is the Novaback information that explains to the customer the meaning of the information in the index directory?

If we overwrite a tape, what happens to the log? Do these just accumulate on the disk? How is this maintained?

  3. What is the difference between the initial backup log that just lists directories, and the list available for restoring files? Where are these stored in the Novaback directory?

  4. How do we uninstall Novaback?

We have an older version that is now replaced by this newer version. How do we uninstall the older version?

Is any Novaback information stored by Windows 2000 anywhere we need to remove?

Thanks.

Sincerely,

THE WELCH COMPANY
