Subject:
Virus reported on Download from Microsoft
{RTCProd#002-641-146}
Dear Rod,
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service.
..
I am Prasad, your Microsoft Online Customer Service Representative.
..
Rod, I understand that you wish to report about a Virus named bssx.exe that
reportedly entered your computer via Windows
Update site.
..
I would like to inform you that Microsoft takes care of its website and I can
assure that this virus [did not] enter your computer via Windows
Update site. Microsoft scans all its files for possible virus infection.
..
Though I am not a Technical Support Professional, I have done some research
and found that there is no virus/Windows file with
the name bssx or bsx.
..
Please note that it is recommended that AntiVirus should be disabled when
downloading and installing Windows Updates. This is
because, the updates modify registry settings which the AntiVirus detect as a
Virus.
..
Rod, I hope the information I have given is useful to you. If you have any
other questions or need further assistance, please feel
free to contact us again.
Have a nice day.
Thank you for using Microsoft Products and Services,
..
Sincerely,
Prasad NLN
