Omnibook 1450 |
Dear Jarmon,
Thanks very much for expediting our order for the HP Omnibook 4150, recieved yesterday. Preliminary discussion with technical support and review of CDW documents show following issues...
Therefore, it seems the "backorder" status should be eliminated and a credit issued.
Can you provide guidance on correcting this matter?
On May 4, you submitted a letter from Ross Rodrigo asking in part for the size of the disk partitions c - i. In discussion with you and Ross later that day I asked that the partitions be made the same size, about 2.5 GB. The last drive comes out maybe a little bigger or smaller using fdisk, which Ross said he would use, because Partition Magic does not work with Windows 2000.
This evening, I learned that the disk was configured with partitions c and i using FAT32; but, for unknown reasons, partitions d - h use FAT. This arrangement eliminates one of the big benefits of w2000 for efficient disk storage. Last night I transferred a large data base on the new computer (C12), from an existing system using W2000. About 33K files were transfered in 7K folders, which take up 270 MB on C11. On the new computer this same data on the d: drive using FAT configuration takes up 1,300 MB, nearly 500% more space. This is a huge loss of value.
While there was no specific request that the partitions be configured all with FAT32, we have never purchased a system in the past 4 years where FAT32 was not used. There is no evident reason for having some drives FAT and others FAT32. In any case, we need a solution.
How can we address this issue?
