As Quality Manager for HP's Information Networks Group in Cupertino, he
pioneered engineering and quality efforts enabling heterogeneous InterBusiness
Networking and Open Systems in the '80s.
In the early 90s, Maloney directed the global deployment of packaged enterprise
resource planning (ERP) solutions from Hewlett's European Headquarters in
Geneva. This initiative advanced the global harmonization of HP's back-office
and delivered geometric improvements in the firm's business information
management.
Maloney also restructured the administrative systems support value chain by
deploying a unique "Euro/Local" organizational structure. These
efforts contributed to a sustained European CAGR of 25% and dramatically
improved administrative efficiencies.
As worldwide Technology Manager at Hewlett's Corporate Education unit in Palo
Alto, Maloney founded HP's Media Application Learning Laboratory. The lab was
chartered to research, stage and recommend advanced learning processes,
technologies and structures. John was also instrumental in building Hewlett's
education business model, organization and processes to better exploit advances
in knowledge management.
This included defining and directing the worldwide deployment of distributed
learning centers.
John's teams supported these centers with an enterprise-wide technical infras
tructure. Large-scale, worldwide syndication and consumption of multi-modal
learning products was achieved. Using a just-in-time approach, these learning
solutions helped advance the firm's end-to-end competitiveness while
simultaneously restructuring and retiring the traditional, less cost-effective
methods and organizations.
John defined & executed a worldwide education systems strategy for the
company. This included a uniform education management system, HP's education
information warehouse, integrated competency point systems and leading
collaborative technologies.
These achievements helped Hewlett-Packard establish & accelerate leadership
in organizational learning.
Maloney has helped managers and executives better exploit worldwide business
opportunities with knowledge management. He has conceived and executed
effective global strategies in groupware, enterprise messaging, organizational
learning and knowledge management. John's proven combination of worldwide
experience, hands-on approach, effective delivery and proven execution assures
clients' ability to increase their competitiveness through knowledge
management.
